Celestron make some pretty nice scopes - depends on the model.

My mobile setup is a Celestron (an 8" Schmidt-Cassegrain) which I use with a tripod mounted equatorial.
Nice optics, with decent light-grasp, yet portable enough to put in the car and drive to a rural area away from urban light-polution.

Seriously - get out and use that scope more.
There are many wonders out there that you can see through a telescope - and in time you will come to be able to recognise things like the 'Airey' pattern for what they are.
