its like the shit that feels like you going to die
 Quoting: 911 deception2012inception85

if it's that bad i would highly recommend you taking some valium, klonopin or xanax or any benzodiazapine which will take away the panic and fear, trust me ive been on them for years and they stopped all my anxiety and fear and panic attacks, just dont abuse the, also i would also recommend a plant called kratom which will help mellow you out without the paranoia of marijuana.

Besides that you have to exercise and eat right and make sure that it;s not a blood sugar thing, test it out, when youre feeling really panicked drink something with high amounts of high fructose corn syrup or cane sugar and see if it calms you down, if it does then you could have a sugar inbalance or low blood sugar, some sort of sugar problem, try drinking a A&W cream soda when you are feeling nervous and panicky and if it calms you down then i would say that that is one of the factors in your panic/anxiety/fear problem, too much caffeine too will make you freak out and be nervous. so xanax/klonopin/valium/ativan plus kratom and plus juice or soda with a decent amount of sugar will help you a million fold, plus exercise and fixing mental blocks and traumas. if you want more help or info email me at [email protected] and i can hook you up with all those things and try and help you more. best wishes and what i told you is going to help you more than you could ever imagine plus i can get you what you need. email me brother and best of luck, you can get through this

OP, within yourself, what triggers the fear?
Where does this fear originate from?
Is the fear rational?
Does the fear limit your happiness?

Only you can make the change to dissolve your fears, afterwards you'll be wondering what all the fuss was about.

the FEAR just comes out of nowhere
 Quoting: 911 deception2012inception85

The BEST way to get rid of FEAR is to EMBRACE IT. Just try it OP.
You are scared....of what it don't matter.....an to embrace it will end up making it go away because you are showing strength instead of running or hiding. If you don't embrace it you will constantly fight it and that makes it stronger and stronger.
How do i know??? Cuz i used to be that way.

You give power to the things you do not face and the things we try to suppress. So long as we do that, we continue to FIGHT internal conflict.
Good luck to you and i know you can't be as bad as i used to be. I was to the point of having panic attacks and i got thru it by facing it and embracing it.

Have you had it all your life and now it is getting unbearable?

That's kind of the boat I am in. I am dealing with it. Either you let the dragon consume you or you look at each day of adversity and still praise God.

If you read the bible, read Nehemiah along with some commentary.

social anxiety is self-absorption from the negative end of the spectrum.

get yourself off your mind.

literally.

it's not about you.

i'm not being mean. i'm telling you the truth.

focus on the other people and when you start putting the focus back on yourself in a negative way, change your focus back to the other person.

get. yourself. off. your. mind.

Re: BAD Social Anxiety ... HELP!
Be yourself. It's okay to be quiet and just listen to what others say. Take the pressure off yourself. And realize that in life, we're lucky if we only have a handful of good, true friends. Also realize that some people are jerks - stay away from them. Be very selective in who you hang out with or call a friend. I can be uncomfortable around people I don't know when I first meet them but know that it takes a long time to really get to know people. And I also know that it takes a long time for someone to get to know ME. I am selective on who I share thoughts/feelings with. I have family members who think they know me and they truly don't. They only see a surface "Me". We are very complicated, sensitive people sometimes. I like when Chip said stop giving a F***. It's actually true. Life is too short to overly worry about what others think. What about what YOU think? Mostly, I think people don't cut others enough slack. They are too unforgiving, mean and spiteful/bitter. So, cut yourself some slack and just be yourself.

As a side note, I am a christian. And I cannot STAND when other christians pull the "Are you a christian OP?" This is the most self-righteous bull crap ever. OP, you will be fine. If anything, pray about it.
Diet, exercise and pray...this is between you and God.

Take it easy kiddo.

Re: BAD Social Anxiety ... HELP!
I get panic attacks at night, usually associated with difficulty breathing from say bronchitis.

While the cause is different than yours, I understand the feeling of wanting almost jump out of your skin. Unfortunately, our brains have made this association in a way that to our conscious mind makes no sense, and it really sucks. Id rather have physical pain than a panic attack.

Two thought that might help:

1) Steve Martin suffers panic attacks, and he describes them as being like leg cramps. You feel it coming on, and you think, "Oh F%^K!!", but you know its not going to do damage, and you RIDE IT OUT.

2) When an attack comes on, I DISTRACT myself. Its usually at 3-4am and Im exhausted, but I know if I lie back down it will come back, so.... I get up and read, ususally, the internet. Take your smartphone with you on the bus and READ IT! If you dont have one, get one. If youre like me, it will get you out of that feedback loop.

If that doesnt help, find the distraction that does. Dont give up. ANd as has been said above, keep at it to break up the strength of the pattern - it wont be easy or fun (any more than breaking scar tissue), but you will get there.

And do take Omega-3s. SAMe helps too.

Good Luck!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 39939704

When I had panic attacks, I thought I was dying from a brain tumour. I would get extremely dizzy, vertigo, felt like I was having a heart attack; I was too scared to even go to a doctor. I couldn't breathe (or get a deep breath) which would then lead to hyperventilating, and then numbness in my hands because I was clenching them so hard trying to get a breath. But, what Steve Martin says is true, once you realize what they are, they're still not the least bit enjoyable, but at least you know you're not dying.

Mine were brought on by a horrific relationship. I never suffered from them before that, and once I ended that relationship, they eventually stopped. Although every now and then, if I get really upset about something, it can trigger one. Knowing triggers can definitely help with preventing them.

Re: BAD Social Anxiety ... HELP!
Haven't seen much posted about this, but I'll throw in my $.02 here. OP, have you tried to meditate? If not, try adding meditation into your daily routine, perhaps in the mornings soon after you wake up. Many people with anxiety start out the day "ok" and then progressively see themselves get worse. With that said, try meditating shortly after you wake up.

I won't go into "how" to meditate, but suffice it to say, find a safe, sacred, and quiet place and sit in stillness for a length of time. Use this quiet time to quiet the mind and observe your thoughts. Just "BE" and release all judgements you run across. The idea here is to train yourself to control your thoughts. That is, to be able to turn your mind's racing thoughts off. That right there is the key.

If you practice this (yes, it takes practice) you will eventually be able to put yourself into a calming state almost at will. The only trick is to actually "DO" it.

Try it and see what happens.

Peace.

Re: BAD Social Anxiety ... HELP!
Please understand that we cannot let ourselves become victims. We cannot allow ourselves to take criticism, which the world doles out in ample supply, and let it change the way we see ourselves. We can strive to be better, but progress comes slowly and usually as a result of overcoming numerous trials and tribulations.

Take pride in small accomplishments. Look at yourself as important because you are. Know that you have the capability to do great things whether they touch one persons life or hundreds of millions of others. Know that you are a human being and that you deserve the respect of others if you provide others with respect. Go the distance, never give up.

If you feel the symptoms that you've described as a result of your mindset, or your surroundings, or because of an uncertain future, as bad as it may be, it would be wise to work to make some corrections. Just remember a few things:

1. You control your emotions. It's not the other way around. Sure, it sometimes feels like impending doom is descending right on top of you, but NO ONE knows exactly what you're thinking or feeling. Take that time to get a hold of the situation.

2. Don't listen to the people who say you are weak and to SNAP OUT OF IT. Unfortunately, it is not that easy. You aren't at all weak, you just react to certain stimulus in a way that you don't prefer. Know that with practice you can change that. You are in control.

3. Ignore the haters. Really, really, remember that. You do what you like to do and keep doing it. If, for example, you like to do something like perform in front of people and you get heckled know that it's because of YOUR STRENGTH that you're there to begin with.

4. Discover what provides you joy in your life and pursue it.

5. Set goals and attain them.

Re: BAD Social Anxiety ... HELP!
I think xanax is very helpful in treating these issues if you take the xanax and the EXPOSE yourself to the issue that triggers the anxiety over and over. It sort of diffuses the situation.

I am not a shrink, but I decided this was what I was going to do. My anxiety seemed to peak on job interviews and one time I totally choked up and it was terrible. So I said "Ok, I'm going the xanax route." Next interview I popped a xanax. I didn't choke. Then I booked interviews with anyone who asked. I lowered the dose after 3 more successful interviews to 1/2 xanax. Went on 2 more interviews. Last and most successful interview as xanax-free. Will I choke up again? Maybe. But if I do I will repeat this and re-set the fear meter to "Not scared."

Try something like this...and good luck. :)

Xanax is good for social anxiety, unfortunately it's only like a band-aid and the act of taking the drug will induce anxiety when not on the drug, aka 'habit forming'

IN through the nose,
hold it...
and out through the mouth.

Think "I am still"

This works.

Or get some weed that helps with anxiety.

I don't really have anxiety, but I tend to get more social if I smoke some sativa.
Plus cannabinoids stimulate the hippocampus which makes your thought-patterns a bit more "fleeting" if you will. You tend to forget what your were thinking about and I guess that goes for the reason you were anxious in the first place as well.
