I find that elderly people are the only people with anything interesting to say. Most of them don't even know who a Cardassian is.

I have one in the back lawn , I water it two times a week , but we had lots of rain this month , didn't really bother with it the last 2 weeks.

Yes I am. All of my grandparents were amazing and took care of generations.

I made my grandson a throw for cold nights watching TV.

When you slow down a bit for them, have patience, respect them and open up to them, they may just surprise and bless you with something profound and life changing.

I am about to share with you the real reason I started this thread.

To those young people here. Yrs, most elderly today are mindless fools. Yes, they have no honor.

BUT, there are some wise elders left! Please listen to me! You have to go search them out if you want to survive this new world.

They are in all cultures and nations. In big and little towns. Not noticed and pushed aside.

They are the quiet ones that nobody talks to. They don't open up to others easily. You have to gain their respect first. It takes time. I know, few today have time for others.

These wise ones don't speak freely at first. They are wise and careful of others, so you have to work at it.

But, there is wisdom hidden in that old and used up body.

If you want it... The choice is yours.

Our brainwashing media has been planting messages in people's heads that the old people are worthless and should die.

I feel fairly sure that in a few years there is going to be a lot of euthanasia of our elderly taking place, to save our government money of course, so they can spend it on more war toys.

The soul doesn't change, only the body does and changes appearance. Many old people are still young and full of life inside with an added side of wisdom. A lot of old people give up though, get depressed and escape into forms of dementia because they don't feel wanted and appreciated. Generations have to get better at communicating with each other and respecting each other along with cherishing what they have to offer to each other.

Simply stated the ignorant youth fail to understand that our society is floundering and circling the drain and fail to understand that life could be anything but as it once was. Granted the older generation is given preference in the job market, however our work ethic is far different then most of these young coddled visionless self-entitled youth.

Further if society slips further will these young leeches know how to grow their own produce and can, pickle or smoke meat to sustain them through lean times or make their own clothing. In my opinion, a reality check is necessary as I will not teach a belligerent lazy any of these skills and I doubt they would muster the gumption to learn.

I have met so many hidden jewels thrown out like unwanted garbage.

Steam locomotive engineers. Soldiers of previous wars. Pilots. Heroes. Real cowboys.

What stories. What wisdom.

I noticed that the least noticed and the most quiet were the most wise. They saw everything, but said little.

Yes, you have to slow down to their live's speed. That is too hard for most to do.

They built America. They raised families. They fought in wars. They made mistakes.

These things you can learn from if you are willing to listen.

But, it is all ending now, so time is short...

Someone should collect their stories and publish them as an interactive website.

The older generation coddled their children desiring to give them what they did not have growing up and it backfired the youth had no respect and the “trinkets” handed to them were meaningless as they had no idea of the work involved and the youth were instable always wanting more.

Many would welcome it...

they fed, housed and raised today's lose generation. somebody had to do it.

Yes, as a young man I loved giving up my seat to the elderly. I felt like a man! *smile*

You have to touch them personally! Not read it on a web page. It takes effort.

I know, most will be old fools, but every so often you find a real diamond in the rocks...

I've only experienced great friendships with old people. When they feel that they like you, they also listen to you and shake some of that 'old stuff' that makes them seem old. Sometimes they surprise me with a younger and fresher attitude than much younger people who are sometimes very uptight and stressed. They live and learn, teach and experience just like everybody else. Grandparents are often better company and guides for their grandkids than the parents because they have more time and are not stressed with chores and duties anymore.

They lived a difficult life. If they still have a spark left in them, then you can use it to learn about life.

it's like silverpatriot said. many members of the younger generations had it easy and take everything for granted, expect it to always be that way and get annoyed with old people because they are not as fast as they are...

Very true and they blame everything that goes wrong on young people.Just watch some of the posts on this forum about how the older ones think they are so much better than younger people.Always put downs about their work ability etc.Always complaining about some assistance someone has gotten all the while sitting back and sucking out 50 times the amount they put into the system.
I respect all older people unless they decide to tell me how much better they are then me then I ignore them as best I can
