James Purnell, BBC's director of strategy and digital: "We've messed up, we're sorry"The 2011 review may seem regrettable now but with hindsight some may find it amusing. Background to this study As the BBC’s governing body, the BBC Trust acts to get the best out of the BBC for licence fee payers. In part this means ensuring that the BBC continues to provide excellent value for money. We commission Value for Money investigations into specific areas of BBC activity to help ensure that licence fee payers are getting the best possible return on every pound of their licence fee.
Presented to Parliament by the Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport by Command of Her Majesty February 2011(BBC copyright) Gosh! The Queen Commanded this study. Thank you my dear Sovereign. [ link to www.bbc.co.uk] Let's hope Tony's back on his feet now, I remember that was a tough time for him.
