After fifty earthquakes struck Northern California in the last 24 hours, and a massive quake in eastern Russia measuring 8.2 on the Richter scale, reports are emerging that some high profile individuals on the U.S. west coast have begun evacuating their families. Unidentified international dignitaries have likewise been reportedly flown out of the San Francisco area.

The reasoning is that there may be a suspected massive “plate fracture” occurring off of the Oregon/California coast.

Someone on another thread posted that it's rare for quakes out near Lassen. He said he lived out there and felt it was more likely, because of the depth of the quake, to be Lassen waking up. He felt that Mt. Lassen could blow.

It looks like that area is not on any fault lines.

Just north of Lassen, McArthur Burney Falls Memorial State Park has fault areas.

Or it could be a metaphor for an Empire...such as USA riding a massive financial wave...or something. Pink Floyd is often metaphorical as opposed to literal in their earlier music, IMO. But I never really thought to compare it to current events. I always assumed their music was more likely to refer to the times they were living in when they wrote it...

Though it won't stop everyone from throwing darts at the wall until one day, maybe tomorrow, maybe ten thousand years from now, they'll get it right.
