In Australia full-time employees get 4 weeks paid holiday.

Casual workers get a higher hourly rate in lieu of holiday pay & sick day pay.

You relate working more days without vacation to working harder, that's a leap I'm not willing to make. Also poor people stuck in shit jobs need to shoulder some responsibility for that. It sucks that their years of laziness and bad choices left them stuck working at the 711 but if it's not sufficiently bad to motivate them to improve it's not sufficiently bad for the government to step in and fix it for them.
