Quoting: Sleeping Giant According to reports, Tremaine McMillian was “roughhousing” with a friend when Miami-Dade Police officers approached them and ordered them to stop fighting. Here’s where things get sketchy. The officers reportedly realized that there was no actual fighting going on, however, they still asked McMillian to identify where his mother was. The teen says he did as he was told, but Miami-Dade Police Detective Alvaro Zabaleta argues he refused to cooperate and started walking away. It was as he was leaving the beach area that police apparently sensed an imminent “threat” based on the teen’s “body language” and “dehumanizing stares.” They soon had the boy on the ground in a chokehold. [link to www.theblaze.com] Most people on the autism spectrum, including aspergers, can't tell if they are giving a "dehumanizing stare", or not. Most don't have a clue what a "dehumanizing stare" even is, since most have no concept of "body language". For those that are cops, and hire cops, know that this is about 2% of the population under 20, and perhaps a bit less than that for those over 20. A "dehumanizing stare" is not a conscious act for most people - it's a means of coping with a stressful situation. |

The cops should be either put on unpaid leave or fired until this is sorted out. In the unlikely event that what they did was found to be OK, then they could get back pay. Otherwise, they should be charged with assault and battery on a child in the exactly the same way any other citizen would be. |

That's the same kind of crap my lunatic father used to beat me over. Everything would be ok until he would start glaring at me for no reason. If I made the mistake of raising my eyes to meet his - he went nuts and started screaming and got violent. I bet this cop is a monster at home. |
