I prefer Orphism from a Christian perspective.

Orphism is a lot like Buddhism, only more truthful.

I was always drawn to Mayhayana Buddhism. Still am btw, but as time progressed i became more interested in New Age, which has much in common with Mayhayana Buddhism.
I like to see myself more as a consciousness explorer, and not necessarily tied to a specific religion/belief

"Yes, we have hurdles, we have distractions, we have disasters, personally and world-wide, and we do have to work it all out ourselves. BUT, there is a most amazing experience awaiting us on the other end of the finish-line.
The idea being, once we can handle it all down here, then we can live and explore eternally, responsibly, because we know what not to do, and not be resentful about being responsible, so we don't start a polarity domino effect in the other realms of existence."

A towel, [The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy] says, is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have. Partly it has great practical value. You can wrap it around you for warmth as you bound across the cold moons of Jaglan Beta; you can lie on it on the brilliant marble-sanded beaches of Santraginus V, inhaling the heady sea vapors; you can sleep under it beneath the stars which shine so redly on the desert world of Kakrafoon; use it to sail a miniraft down the slow heavy River Moth; wet it for use in hand-to-hand-combat; wrap it round your head to ward off noxious fumes or avoid the gaze of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal (such a mind-boggingly stupid animal, it assumes that if you can't see it, it can't see you); you can wave your towel in emergencies as a distress signal, and of course dry yourself off with it if it still seems to be clean enough.

Re: Anyone here is buddhist?
Theravada was the first Buddhist tradition I encountered.
A friend of mine returned to the UK after a few years spent teaching English in Thailand and gave me a book written by Ajahn Chah. (Forest tradition.)

As a disillusioned teen-age Westerner the teachings were like nectar to me and it led me to examine other traditions such as Mahayana, Mahamudra and Zen.

It's a joy to me to discuss the path to enlightenment with others and also to learn different cultural perspectives.
I rarely discuss with family (Catholic.) so there you have a good start because it is a part of your family tradition.

You mentioned that you feel different from other people around you, well perhaps that is a good thing. Do you really want to be like other people? <smiles>

Wishing you much peacehf

around me, there are few people following buddhism especially Theravada, i hardly to share my thoughts with my friends. there was a time i feel lonely bcuz i couldnt fall in line with classmte bcuz they were rude to their close friends like calling their friend "DOGS", i couldnt accept, bcuz i know the unbelievable power of our words, they will exist in universe forever (maybe the next incarnation they may be dogs). i'm always serious so i dont have many friends. and now, i go to the uni, i think i may change, i lost my way, i wonder many things. and now i try to find a school there are people like me.

Hmmm well, I'm not so sure that's a good idea. Can you imagine a school/ uni where everyone is like you? If everybody acted as you imagined they should, how would you ever know that your way was right. Light can't exist without dark, celebrate our differences and don't be so hard on yourself.

Buddhism is probably one of the least offensive religions and I'm sure most people wouldn't mind having it around after the great purge.
