Does this mean that Brazil can now afford to take better care of the Amazon?

Our government and several NGOs do a great job in conserving the rain forest.

Idol, many here in Nebraska are taking another look at the Brazilian techniques of more efficient ethanol production. Sugar does give more yield per ton than corn does, indeed. But I am attempting to find out of the stocks and cobs are being used, as the fiber parts of the cane are in Brazil to help provide fuel for running the ethanol plants.

I find it interesting that it is so hard to find inexpensive E85 kits here in the USA.

Debby, I am very impressed with the progress Brazil is making. It's exceptional in terms of petrochemicals coming from renewable sources. That is the real achievment. The production of oil from green is carbon-neutral.

The US has a LONG way to go to catch up to where Brazil is right now. They can learn so much from your country.

I feel sorry for Brasil; an EXTREMELY RICH country slowly destroying itself and can't share the wealth with its people. They burning down the precious forests for exploitation but common people don't ever benefit from that income; a great example how to trash a once beautiful place.

By the way; did Lula succeeded with his promise "at least one meal/day for everybody" ?

Don´t worry Idol. Americans are just jealous that they continue to take it up the ass by the oil companies.
