How come this is a "new trend" among Europeans?? Quoting: Ford Prefect Daily showers could become a thing of the past, if a new beauty trend called 'cleansing reduction' takes off. Quoting: [link to www.dailymail.co.uk] Instead of bathing every day, proponents whittle their washing habits down to once or twice a week on the grounds that too much cleansing can strip the skin and hair of essential natural oils. While it might sound disgusting, it would seem that cleansing reduction is catching on, after a poll for tissue manufacturer, SCA, found that 41 per cent of British men and 33 per cent of women no longer shower every day. The poll also revealed that a filthy 12 per cent said that they indulge in a 'proper wash' just once a week. It is the younger generation are joining who are leading this trend forthe great unwashed, with 37 per cent admitting to taking a 'shower in a can' - that's a quick spritz of deodorant to you and me - on a regular basis, according to market analysts, Mintel. An RSA blog on the subject also attracted some illuminating responses, including one committed soap dodger, who revealed that they washed only 'when dirty, sweaty or smelly, so if I've been gardening or out for a vigorous bike ride, or if it's just very hot weather.' How come this is a "new trend" among Europeans?? Nice one,OP. |

What's more, they add, one in five products are bought by men - possibly including Prince Harry who once revealed that he hadn't washed his hair for two years. In parts of the world western tourists are called "seagull shit", because young backpackers don't bathe enough on their travels, and as a result, smell like shit. Seems like the hippies are taking over. |

Christ, the Brits are going to start smelling like my Belgian Brother in law. How can anyone climb into a nice bed with clean sheets with a dirty body? I've never understood it. It doesn't matter if they sweat or not they still have all that dead skin and oils and whatever other disgusting crap. Plus showers and baths feel good. Who doesn't like the feel of the warm water on their skin? |

That's the way Europeans had behaved towards bathing for a very long time. Only in recent centuries did regular cleanliness begin and that never was to the degree the American culture insists on cleanliness. And why is that? In first contact the Indians were basically disgusted at the appearance and smell of Europeans. The odor was rank, they were hairy all over and the hairy faces also shocked the Indians who did not have facial or body hair to that degree. In addition the Europeans short stature compared to the Indians gave them an squat, hairy, smelly overall demeanor. It took a while but the association was not lost on the colonists and bathing began to be a feature of their lives. That attitude grew and as America became more a powerhouse their hygiene culture also spread to their bathing deprived roots in Europe. But never did Europe adopt the daily shower culture. In fact during the Olympics several years ago it was a concern to have a large population of Americans arrive it would destroy the plumbing so emergency upgrades had to be made to handle the increased showering. |

Dude, if you have a partner or you y'know intend to ever have sex with the same person more than once... it's kinda like your dudty to provide a nice squeaky clean playground if you get my meaning. I guess dirty people don't mind having sex with equally dirty people or something? Yuck... dude my other half will literally say "you ain't touching me till you have a shower" if I'm getting frisky and I've been working or exercising or something. Not to mention it's just not very considerate to be a smelly dirty fuck and like be riding on public transport or something. I think this "trend" is merely a symptom of an increasing level of personal selfishness in today's society. People don't give a fuck about other people, smelly bastards usually never seem to be able to smell themselves so they don't give a fuck if it bothers anyone else. I mean c'mon people, the shower was invented so you could clean yourself 100% with as little time and effort as possible... how fucking lazy can somebody be? 'Magically Delicious' |

If I had an unlimited supply of distilled water I would take long showers every day. But the chemical sludge that comes from the faucet dries out my face and skin, causes peeling and all sorts of dermatitis. Cutting back every three days has dramatically improved the health of my skin. |

I stopped washing my hair with shampoo and just stated using coconut oil conditioner every couple days usually 2-4 days depending on how my hair feels and well I have to say that my hair is much much more healthy. You don't relize it but most 'products' you use contain alcohol or other products that really dry your hair/skin out. The soap and shampoo companies do this on purpose so that you have to buy 'another' product to aid in your dry skin that was caused by the other product of theirs that you bought. People now days smell because of what they put 'into' their bodies not what comes out. Your diet plays a big role in the way you smell, and if you put shit food in, expect a shit smell to come out... |
