Friday, May 31, 2013 the IL State Legislature passed a concealed carry bill, HB0183, for Illinois residents.



The House passed the bill 89 - 28 - 0; the Senate passed 45 - 12 - 1. These votes are veto proof.



There is not a lot of detailed information yet on what was actually passed, and there are a lot of rumors going around. We picked out some of the points of the bill which we thought might interest the public.



There will be a workgroup established consisting of members from the Illinois State Police and some lawyers. This group will have 60 days to refine the details. Until this time, we will not know for sure exactly what will be involved in the 16 hour training.



At this point in time, the Illinois State Police Department is not ready to accept applications (there is no existing application form), nor do they have an office established to process applications. The Department shall make applications available no later than 180 days after the effective date of the Act.
