WARNING!! watch out for WW1 EXPLOSIVES in and around lyndhurst

A team of explosives experts from the Royal Engineers is currently carrying out a planned operation to remove WWI ordnance in the Matley Wood area of Lyndhurst. Any found ordnance is being removed or destroyed under controlled conditions and it is anticipated that the site will be cleared by mid-June.

Residents and visitors may experience loud explosive noises when these operations are being carried out. If you are visiting the Matley Wood campsite or surrounding area please take notice of any warning signs.
