Each man that's in the side that's in goes out, and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out. When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side thats been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out. Sometimes you get men still in and not out. When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in. There are two men called umpires who stay all out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out. When both sides have been in and all the men have been out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the match! |

I was talking to some Aussies the other day and they said that their professional Cricket players make up to a couple a million dollars and are one of the most recognized athletes in the counrty. I just never realized how popular it was and how many different countries it is played in. I am 35 and pitched in professional baseball and I was thinking about trying to be a bowler. I know that, but you can also run and throw the ball. I used to throw in the upper 90's and I am left handed. I can spin the ball really well, I was going to get some balls off Amazon and try to throw them, I have a radar gun. I just thought it would be fun to see if I could do it. I just need to know the rules and a little bit more about the sport. I have neighbors from the UK and Australia that want me to try. The single best thing you can do is get the boxset of 'The Greatest Series' from England vs Australia in 2005. It was the single greatest Test series you could hope for. It will give you a very good insight as to why cricketers are revered as they are and to how the sport is played at the very pinnacle. Especially bowling and the art of reverse swing. It was called Howzat. I only saw a little and it looked a bit camp because of the retro moustaches and so on. There was another miniseries called Bodyline which was about an Aust/NZ miniwar over a certain type of bowling. |

Yes they are famous. They go to India where they are even more famous and get paid a lot more. You were "pitching" which is CHUCKING. Fast bowlers BOWL the ball faster than that. Bowlers do not "throw" because that is CHEATING. |
