Airplanes in distress over Atlantic on 9/11/01?
I never heard of this before:

[link to www.usatoday.com]
---
And three jets over the Atlantic Ocean are sending out distress signals, the Coast Guard reports.

Top managers at the FAA's command center fear the worst: Jets all over the country including some over the oceans are being hijacked.
---

Is it barely possible that these were the real jets (Flights 11, 175, 77, and/or 93)? Then what happened to them? Did they merely 'go silent' (i.e., shot down by our air force)?

Or alternatively, were these three jets part of the various 'war games' designed to confuse both the FAA and NORAD personnel?

Maybe you should read the WHOLE article, instead of just the first paragraph??

Some1, you apparently did not read the article yourself. The article alarmingly mentions airplanes in distress over the Atlantic but does NOT mention their final disposition.

Why does it seems like the only passsengers who knew about the trouble that day were on Flt 93?

AC 3233, I tend to agree with you. I suspect that the real jets were indeed sent out over the Atlantic and then shot down. Remote control probably disabled their radios, so they could not describe what was wrong; but perhaps they were still able to send the distress signal that this article mentions.
