Microsoft to Pull Complete Reversal on Xbox One DRM Policies
The tug-of-war between Microsoft and Sony just got more interesting. Multiple sources inform me Microsoft will announce what amounts to a complete reversal on its DRM policies for Xbox One today.

What does this mean?

-No more always online requirement
-The console no longer has to check in every 24 hours
-All game discs will work on Xbox One as they do on Xbox 360
-An Internet connection is only required when initially setting up the console
-All downloaded games will function the same when online or offline
-No additional restrictions on trading games or loaning discs
-Region locks have been dropped

It is unclear what caused this huge change in policy right after E3, a week where Microsoft executives spent days explaining, justifying, and talking about its policies to the press. I suspect Microsoft’s official announcement will say something to the effect of “we've been closely listening to consumer feedback.”

Based on what I’m being told, that’s definitely true.

I've reached out to Microsoft for comment.

Microsoft has taken an enormous amount of heat regarding DRM policies with its new console. Sony became consumer heroes at E3, announcing PlayStation 4 would not treat used games differently, and the status quo would reign.

Re: Microsoft to Pull Complete Reversal on Xbox One DRM Policies
in regards to Microsoft's change in policies on the Xbox one : Sorry Microsoft, but you should have known better to begin with. You're only going back on it now because it was clear you'd be losing huge market share. You may as well be a cheating spouse saying "I'll never do it again." It's too late now. You're being divorced.

what are the odds that don matrick is really a plant for sony and is an agent provacateur . only explanation i can think of for the ignorance being spewed. won't help though. i'll bet sony is still giddy.

They only did this because they know Sony's gonna whoop that ass. Too bad they already fucked themselves and won't recover in regards to the console wars.

They knew people were pissed about the DRM and had to backpedal to still get as many cameras and mics into people's houses as they can.

Re: Microsoft to Pull Complete Reversal on Xbox One DRM Policies
Not really...they just tested how far they could possibly go. they cut back a little after the criticism and public concern. but thats was part of the marketing calculation all along.

the technolgy however is cutting edge and it's more than likely that the console stores visual and audible information offline that might be submitted as soon as you go online. even the dumbest of the sheeple become aware that there is no boundary to corp. business greed when it comes to personal client data and information.

xbox one has the power to scan your whole living room. to interpret your emotions, measure your blood pressure and face recognition. what does that tell you? and that box doesnt allow you to turn that nazi scanner off...hey every nord korean has a speaker in there living room through which they receive propaganda once a while. western societies pay for it and install it them self; a multiple times nastier surveillance living room technology than kim jong un could ever dream of.

time has come to pull the plug on such developments as much as bolivians just pulled the plug on mcdonnalds frankenfoods...

stop cooperating or you'll find yourself chipped in the very near future.

Re: Microsoft to Pull Complete Reversal on Xbox One DRM Policies
I wont be going near that machine till its confirm by a Mircosoft offical release stating they will not impliment the drm changes they stated at E3. I rather go without a xbox1 since it would be the same if you dont have internet access, mircosoft are some stupid to think decent internet is available everywhere, sadly its not, anyone who had Hughes satelite or xplornet services know these services are just like dial up and these services had alot of ports closed so online gaming was impossible.

....And this is exactly the response they wanted.

You fuckin' high bro?

Microsoft:

"We're gonna make this shit tell us everything about you all the time!"

The people:

"Fuck you, we won't buy that!"

Microsoft:

"Ok, ok, we won't make it do that."

The people:

"Awesome, I'll buy it now!"

Microsoft (in secret):

"hahaha... dumbasses... of course we'll just upload everything it saved about you when you DO get online, we just won't tell 'em!"

I rest my case.
