Quoting: Damrod What do you think is the most charming accent when speaking the English language? I have met people from literally all over the world that speak English...and I have always been fascinated with the slight differences and subtle nuances of their dialect and accent. My family is from one side German and from the other Scott-Irish... Germans don't really have a lock down on sexy or charming when speaking English....Irish is pretty cool....Scotts...wel sometimes even when they are speaking English you have to ask "was that English?"... I have met some folks from the Caribbean that have a wonderful accent.... But I have to say....my particular favorite is... There was a group of ladies that opened a small, eclectic store in our town years ago....they sold antiques, candles, crafts....pretty common stuff...they were all from Wales...and they could just about talk me into buying anything...I was literally charmed by them...their accents, intonations...etc....were so captivating...it was like being beguiled or enamored....but wonderful at the same time. Sometimes I would go in there, buy something and in an hour or two after I left would be like "why the hell did I buy this?" Nah...it wasn't that bad...but it was pretty amazing. I have to say...when the Welsh speak English...they put a twist on it that no one else does.... So....what is your opinion?...Who has the most mystifying accent to you? (when speaking English that is) Most girls here like English accents. And I've heard plenty of people pay out the American accent, calling it a, "shit accent". |

We worhip in a Coptic Christian church with Coptic Christians from Egypt. They speak arabic - say the Lord's Prayer in it too! Wonderful people, so sad they are persecuted. That is true...I used to have a buddy that could fake an English accent like a pro....he scored poon like a madman.... The thing is....even within the Islands of Great Britain....you have so many twists on the language...Norther Irish do not sound like southern Irish...Highland Scott does not sound like Lowland Scott...English from York do not sound the same as English from London.... But to me...the Welsh...I don't know...kinda magical and enchanting... These were older ladies by the way, not like I was going to score some sex...I was just fascinated by their use of the language. |

Most annoying is my wife's Belgian Frenchie accent..when is she going to lean how to make the TH sound? Goddamnit What the fuck is a 'tootbrush"? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 41862433 I have a southern british accent. Not Landon. Lundon. But not to deep like arnie |

Damrod (OP) User ID: 6266696 United States 06/23/2013 10:58 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Australian is a pretty cool accent. I onCe played a round of golf with an aussie, a south african and an englishmen and it was the wierdest thing ever...at some point you have to step back and say "are we all speaking the same language here?" The similarities are obviously there, but then you have these break-away moments where something is said that makes you say "wtf?" I have noticed that many countries that fell under German occupation seem to have a very thick accent when speaking English...I don't know if that is a result of German occupation or just a thing that defies explanation. It seems that eastern Europe has a very thick and heavy accent when they have to speak English....it never comes across as being a comfortable way to communicate for them....even if it is. Asians seem to have their own unique twist on the language...not offensive, just different. Just one of those interesting things to me. |

The robotic phillipines accent is strange but cool. Scottish is cool. Carribean is cool. Thats about it. Im probably missing the best one or havent named a few. |

Damrod (OP) User ID: 6266696 United States 06/23/2013 11:19 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | German?...that is surprising...it always seemed uncomfortable to me...like something they would rather not have to use...same for many eastern European countries. not a bash, just an observation...like they would prefer to not have to use English. Italian...that's a good one...unique in it's own way...same could be said for French...though they seem to loathe to speak English...I guess I can't blame them....if you fight someone for nearly a thousand years why would you want to speak their language? The Scandinavian realms have a very distinct accent as well....pretty charming too....who cannot love a swedish hottie describing her dip in the pool? |

Quoting: Damrod That's funny. But even with perfect English it always depends who you're talking to... It's less than half...but for talking purposes....my fathers side of the family is German and my mothers is Scot-Irish. I couldn't talk my way out of a confrontation in German if someone literally held a gun to my head...I'd be a dead man....aside from the clever tidbits I have learned from Rammstein over the years.... Du hast mech(you have me)....Ich tu dir weh? (I hurt you) Tut mir nicht leid (I'm not sorry) Das tut dir gut (it's good for you) I don't think that would get me through a Gestapo interrogation....though they might ask me to join.... |

I had a university lecturer who was from Nigera maybe or South Africa, learnt absolutely nothing because I just listened to the way he pronounced words!! But for actual communication, I'm for a posh English accent all the way. Meaow! |
