Australian is a pretty cool accent. I onCe played a round of golf with an aussie, a south african and an englishmen and it was the wierdest thing ever...at some point you have to step back and say "are we all speaking the same language here?"
The similarities are obviously there, but then you have these break-away moments where something is said that makes you say "wtf?"
I have noticed that many countries that fell under German occupation seem to have a very thick accent when speaking English...I don't know if that is a result of German occupation or just a thing that defies explanation. It seems that eastern Europe has a very thick and heavy accent when they have to speak English....it never comes across as being a comfortable way to communicate for them....even if it is.
Asians seem to have their own unique twist on the language...not offensive, just different.
Just one of those interesting things to me.
