Does the judgement in the Da Vinci Code case contain a hidden code of its own?
You've heard of the judicial code - but now comes the 'Smithy Code', named after its elusive author. In his written ruling for the 'Da Vinci Code' copyright case at the High Court earlier this month.
Judge Peter Smith appears to have set his own fiendish conundrum - one which only those fluent in the text of the Da Vinci Code will understand.
The judgement contains occasional letters in bold italics, 42 letters dotted haphazardly throughout the 71-page document.
The message starts out simply enough... 'Smithy Code' apparently incorporating the judge's name into the book title.
But what follows is a string of letters that make no obvious sense
The code in full is:
SmithycodeJaeiextostgpsacgreaamqwfkadpmqzv
Simon Singh is the author of The Code Book explained more to Channel 4 News.
