Loud Rumbling in the sky around 1:50am last night in Clearwater, FL JUNE 26, 2013

thunder bro...it will sometimes continue rolling in like a train for as long as 5 to 10 minutes...especially if you are near the convergence of the two masses...lived here my whole life and what you heard was southwest florida rolling thunder sweeping in from the bay

It sounded like a huge 747 was just hovering above. Even saw some people walk outside and look up trying to figure out what it was. And I called the police dept to see if anything had happened and they were even getting some calls about the same thing.

Posted this to another thread, but this seems timely, as well:

I, along with about 30 people all heard this noise last night while hanging out in the parking lot of the bar that we frequent after closing near Gulf to Bay. It was nearly 4AM and we began to feel the ground shake, followed by the same noise that everyone is hearing. It was enough for EVERYONE to stop conversing and look to the sky wondering the source. I drove by the airport after the third or fourth time hearing it and did not hear it again and saw no activity at PIE.

I'm stumped. It sure sounds man-made and if it was coming from MacDill, I think we would have people in South Tampa hearing it, as well.

In addition to this, I was on Bayshore Blvd. (Safety Harbor), waiting to turn left on to the Courtney Campbell and heard it once more. This was probably around 1PM today, June 30th, 2013.

I love browsing this forum because I think most of you are nuts, but whatever is producing this sound must be absolutely giant in size, power or whatever.

I'm in Oldsmar tonight and will let anyone know if I hear it again.

You aren't crazy and it definitely isn't thunder. I live in North Clearwater and have posted on this forum several times about hearing it too. One night it was so bad our windows shook. Last night it was on and off and kept me up until 1:30AM.

I just hear this same rumbling loud noise guys! Off Highland avenue in Clearwater a little after 11 pm. Lasted about 5 minutes...

St.Pete/Clrwtr airport is a decent ways away...This was loud..No jetliners in sight..Hmmm...Weird for sure...Waiting for it again. We'll see what happens.

This is on Ulmerton Road in Pinellas Park and can be heard everywhere around here.

I've been to it, and it's like being beside a jet engine continuously. I had to leave. I don't know how anyone can stand it. I live about 10 miles from there and it's loud here.

I know someone north of Souix Falls S.D. that reported the same thing at that same time. Doubt any connection but interesting.
