Yeah, I just saw the latest news about the other allegations. Maybe we're just dealing with a real-life Scarface here. I opened this thread up to discuss the case, and it's looking like we'll be hearing a lot more about Mr. Hernandez in the coming weeks/months/years. Crazy stuff.

yea, I think it all just boils down to the fact that this guy has no respect for the lives of other human beings.

it IS strange that it's such an open and shut case, but I really think it's just because this guy doesn't seem to have much sense.

All I can say, what a fuckin idiot to throw his life away (and of course, murdering an innocent person) like that. He was signed on for a $40 MILLION contract!

Ok, fair point. But that is why I am at least considering a set-up or some other explanations.

whatever

It's called innocent until proven guilty...try it sometime. I prefer to consider all options before coming to a conclusion. It certainly would appear to be an open-and-shut case. Now I see that they are linking a packet of gum he purchased with some gum found in the car he rented. If you add that with the text messages, the timeline, the smashed phone and cameras, the security images and everything else....that seems like a trail even the most idiotic cop could follow. Sure was nice of Hernandez to leave so much evidence lying around...

Re: Aaron Hernandez Murder Case -- what's your take?
I haven't seen any discussion about this case on here, so I thought I would bring it up. Since there are a lot of users here who don't follow the mainstream US news, let me recap:

23 year old NFL star Aaron Hernandez is being arraigned on murder charges. The victim, Odin Lloyd, was the boyfriend of his fiancee's sister, a known acquaintance, and was found shot to death within a mile or so of Hernandez's residence. All of this happened shortly after signing a $40 million extension with his team, the New England Patriots. After his arrest, the Patriots promptly released Hernandez and the NFL and team issued vague statements supporting the legal process and in memoriam of the victim in question. Hernandez also faces 5 gun-related charges in the case. A summary of evidence:

1. Location of body, about one mile from accused's house.
2. Victim found near a rental car under Hernandez's name
3. Hernandez's cell phone and home security system/cameras were smashed when the police attempted to access them for evidence.
4. Police were able to obtain evidence from the damaged devices which not only prove that Hernandez, Lloyd and two unknown men were together on the night in question, but the home cameras allegedly show Hernandez leaving his house with a gun in hand. Local surveillance also placed the men in question near the scene of the crime, where the body was found.
5. Media outlets have also brought up his reputation as a marijuana smoker and his violent temper, which scared teams out of drafting him initially.

Seems like an open and shut case, right? There are a few things about this case that I've been wondering about so I wanted to run them by you. It's interesting how quickly this case has been defined by surveillance, and the information that can be obtained via these devices. I read this Boston Globe article basically saying as much:

[link to www.bostonglobe.com]

It almost seems as if they are intentionally pushing the issue to show how valuable this information is. And would Hernandez really be so stupid as to leave a body so close to his residence, next to a car that could easily be traced to him, knowing that witnesses would have seen them together? He could well be that stupid, but a 23 year old guy with a small baby and a new $40 million deal might go through a little more trouble to cover his tracks IF he were to off someone so brazenly. Don't ya think? Really, they just leave the body sitting there to be found within hours? I guess the timing of the case, and the seemingly air tight evidence just has me smelling a rat of some kind. Thoughts?

Here's my take: He is being listed as a suspect in a double homicide last summer. My feeling is the guy he was with at the club (his girlfriend's sister's boyfriend) was talking to some guys who were known associates of the guys who were murdered last summer. Hernandez got pissed and paranoid his friend was giving up some inside information and talking to these guys about Hernandez' involvment. Hernandez then calls his 2 friends to hurry back into town because they've been ratted out and they proceed to whack this guy as payback and to shut him up - this is what will be revealed as this case unfolds mark my words.

Ok, fair point. But that is why I am at least considering a set-up or some other explanations. Such as, who are these two accomplices? Is it possible they offed him knowing Hernandez would be implicated? Did someone have it out for him? I find it hard to believe that Hernandez would be so stupid as to leave the body in plain sight so close to home, knowing how much he has to lose in his life. Don't you think he would have done something to cover it up a bit more, if he really killed this guy in cold blood as suggested by prosecutors?

I try to presume innocence until someone is proven guilty, no matter how damning the evidence seems at first look. We all know that some cases aren't always what they seem to be.

He's been a thug since his days at Florida. In my opinion with what the prosecution has already presented this will be an open and shut case.

In Norse mythology, Odin was the king of the Æsir. He is a god of war, but also associated to wisdom, poetry, and magic. Odin rides on an eight-legged horse called Sleipnir, and his famous spear is called Gungnir. He also has a precious arm ring called Draupnir, and two ravens called Hugin and Munin who tell him all the things happening around the world. Odin only has one eye, because he sacrificed one to drink from the fountain of wisdom.

Half of the souls of heroes slain in battles will be guided by the Valkyries, battle maidens, to Odin's hall, Valhalla. The other half belongs to the goddess Freyja.

His wives are Frigg and Jord, the Earth. His eldest son is Thor, god of thunder.

Odin would be swallowed by Loki's son, the wolf Fenrir at Ragnarok.

In German, Odin is named Wotan. In older English, Odin is named Woden. It is from that name the weekday Wednesday in English comes from "Wodens day". In old Norse he is named Oden and the weekday Wednesday is today, in Scandinavia, "Onsdag", from "Odens day". Odin sacrificed his eye for wisdom. He threw his eye into a well of wisdom. He also impaled himself to a tree for many days, driving a spear through himself, and discovered runes. He got his wish, wisdom.

rituals are going on around us all tha time i feel

Based on all the evidence, there's no conspiracy here. Just a dumbass gang banging thug trying to keep information about his last 2 murders from getting out.

It very well might be. But then why leave the body in plain sight so close to home to be discovered almost immediately? And is it at least a bit suspicious that he is only now being investigated for a prior murder? Why did all of this information only come out after his arrest?

Now there is some extra evidence: Hernandez allegedly purchased some blue bubble gum at a convenience store. A piece of chewed blue gum was found in the rental car he was using, next to a spent shell casing. Once again, it just seems like all the evidence fits into place a little too perfectly. Hard to imagine that he was really that careless/stupid, but anything is possible. Thanks for your perspectives on this. I agree that it looks like an open and shut case for the prosecution, but it almost seems too obvious to be real.

The last I heard was that he may also be involved in a double homicide from July 2012. Supposedly the guy he killed also knew about that and was beginning to blab? So he got rid of him.

What would Hernandez's reason be for leaving the house that night with a gun in hand? Apparently the victim had reason to be worried prior to his death, per his sister.

Re: Aaron Hernandez Murder Case -- what's your take?
I cannot speculate as to why Hernandez was allegedly leaving his house that night brandishing a weapon (why brandish the weapon so that it is visible to the cameras he knew he had installed in his house?). Nor do I know how easy it is to recover images from a smashed security system, or if these photos truly exist. Just posing questions here...

Nor do I know how usual or unusual it is for a potential witness in such a high profile murder case to die in a car accident just before being interviewed by authorities:

"Hernandez Investigators Had Planned To Talk To Man Killed In Farmington Crash"

Multiple law enforcement sources said Massachusetts investigators were interested in speaking with Thaddeus Singleton III, 33, because he was associated with Hernandez. Singleton, who records show has served time in state prisons on various drug-related convictions dating to the mid-1990s, was killed when the car he was driving shot 100 feet through the air and hit the Farmington Country Club 6 feet off the ground.

[link to www.courant.com]

Plus, Golden Boy Tim Tebow has come out of the woodwork to claim that he broke up a fight between a 17 year old Hernandez at a club while they were attending the University of Florida.

This case is getting more fascinating by the day.
