Seeking Spiritual advice on Odinist / Asatru belief's
Of late I have attempted to educate myself on my spirituality, not as I have been told and directed by those around me but attempting to understand what I should believe based on what I have experienced. (Searching for something outside of Christianity)

This has led me to questions arising from my German and Celt ancestry and native faiths of those peoples. I will explain why I have directed this at the Odinist belief system, rather than that of the Celts in a moment.

My basic question would be if it is solid logic that if I have German lineage would it imply that I have Viking/Nordic blood? My fair skin and red hair certainly implies lineage to the north, although the red hair could be attributed to Celtic blood.

That said, my values of life seem to merge more with that of old world Viking beliefs, although I admit this may be "stereotypical concepts" hence the need to figure out which direction I should further educate myself.

Generally speaking my family claims more German lineage than Celtic, although until recently I was ignorant of how deep the German bloodlines may run.

I raise this question out of if I should further educate myself on the Odinist / Asatru beliefs and establish if it is for me or if I should instead spend that same time educating myself on the Celtic faith instead. I don't believe I should adhere to a belief system based on bloodline if I do not have that blood.

I also understand that Nordic faiths have been attached to neo-Nazi cultures, that is not something I am seeking. Merely trying to find a belief system that aligns itself with what I believe to be true based on my experiences.

What I do understand to be truth:

- I have experienced a higher power's influence on my life. Will explain if it is deemed necessary. Therefore I do believe in a God/Gods
- I have always felt that honor and bravery to be of the highest of moral attributes. Something that appears in line with Odinism.
- I have always felt connected to my ancestors, and have recently begun attempting to learn more about the human soul, soul age, etc.

I do not post this out of mocking or trolling, but truly attempting to understand. I hope that my seeking clarification on this subject has not somehow caused offense, as I did not intend to. I am truly only seeking advice, perspective, and truth.

Thank you for your time,

Re: Seeking Spiritual advice on Odinist / Asatru belief's
I should add, as this according to what I have read aligns with what the Viking's / Nords believed:

I respect god or the gods, but have always felt a strong urge to break away and not fall in line with tradition Christian beliefs. I do believe god / gods are more powerful than me (duh right?) but have always looked forward to fighting alongside them for good, not strumming away at a harp. I have always liked the idea of a God or set of God's that interact and are like man, in that they have motivations, etc. I admired it as a high school student studying Greek mythology, and have often found that that was when I began to question Christian on its basis.

I have more I could surely explain, but am attempting to keep this brief until someone is able to lend some general advice.

Re: Seeking Spiritual advice on Odinist / Asatru belief's
Might I suggest a less narrow search for spirituality. Study all the religions, take the good ideas, leave the bad... And most importantly keep an open mind and think critically. Most religions frown upon these two qualities, but they will serve you better in the long run!
There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.
