what are you chains? | |
Qarley (OP) User ID: 765209 Canada 06/30/2013 05:39 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ok so tonight I have spent the best Saturday night ever drinking red wine, smoking weed with my headphones in singing along to my favorite tunes. Some may see my wine an weed as chains but I see them as an escape from the chains of real life, music allows me to escape and wine and weed chill me out, the real addictions in life for me are a need to suppress who you really are to conform with society. Quoting: Shelljands Be happy be you Thank you for your perspective!!! "Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. goodmockingbird User ID: 41423718 United States 06/30/2013 05:39 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Buddhism addresses this most clearly and compassionately. 1. Life is full of suffering (or bad feelings, fear, boredom, discontent, unwellness, etc, etc) 2. Suffering ( or bad feelings, etc, etc) come from wanting what we do not have, or clinging to what we do have. 3. Freedom (wellbeing, end of suffering) comes from letting go of the wanting what we don't have. A wise Buddhist saying states that you can measure a person's true wealth not by what he has, but by what he can comfortably live without. Yes, various addictions are inherent to the human condition. We are all addicted to air, food, and water. We add more and more additctions as we "move higher up" in society. A truly poor person (not modern "welfare poor", but truly living with very little) is overjoyed with a clean pair of socks, or a loaf of fresh bread. A "higher status" person may in misery if her fingernail polish gets chipped, and is bored by going out to the same country club all the time. It is my opinion that Jesus was refering to this simple joy of a working man or farmer over small pleasures, compared to the ennui of the rich when he made critical comments about rich people. All of us can simplify our addictions, and return to enjoying the simple pleasures of healthy food, exercise, etc, rather than going on about baing "addicted to" fancy complicated or unhealthy indulgences. Im curious A hobby is something that you like to do and that you consciously decide to do. An addiction is something you NEED to do, wether you like it or not, or know that its not good for you. A distraction is something that catches your attention without you deciding to make the choice of focusing on it. However, what i would like to point out is that this thread tells something about your perspective and consciousness. You see things very negatively. And we all are addicted to something? |

Let me explain-- If I am overly entranced with the beauty of this world, with love filled for Humanity, then how the heck am I going to be able to be in a constant state of letting go, therefore shattering the chains? It's quite the conundrumical catch-22, I say... You never change things by fighting the existing reality. Getting outdoors before dawn and gulping in huge lungfuls of the stillness. Percieving every nuance of air, from the cool of the low places, to the breezes in the trees. Trotting down the street by moonlight, before anyone else is rousting around. Quoting: goodmockingbird The idea of being comfortable in a sleek body, trotting easily while others have not even roused to lumber around, out before anyone else even wakes up. Ahead of the game, so to speak. How must you feel, while breathing the wind, that no matter how many miles you run, now matter how high you can become... How must you feel that you have spent your precious time devoted to self, to breath in those good feelings of self well0 being. How must you feel that every second of every effort that you expended was for nothing but you, and you only. How must you feel when you reach the dawn of your life, whether naturally or through no fault of of your own, when all you could basically say, is that you felt good about yourself. |

It's a long hard very fun road (no pun intended), but you reach a tipping point where you no longer have to focus, it's automatic, kind of like martial arts, at first you learn how to do the basic movements, you repeat them over and over again so that they become natural to you... actually that isn't a chain, sexual energy heals your body, mind and soul. |

Yes, bongs and vapes are better for you health wise but resins do still build up. They are easier to get out then the tar in the cigarettes leaves. Luckily resin only leaves the scillia in your lungs paralyzed where as tar kills them. But health facts aside, I am addicted to it. I wake up, hit a bowl, go on with my day, lunch then a bowl, go o with my day, go to work, then eat dinner and hit a bowl before i relax for the night. I work out and have many hobbies, aspirations and friends. LIFE IS GOOD, but I know that I need weed. I believe that I am addicted to the routine and not the chemical, but who knows. heistmeister |
