AG: Alleged One Fund scammer was ‘eager’ for $2.2M check An aspiring hip-hop star is due in court today after he claimed $2.2 million from The One Fund Boston for an aunt he said lost two legs in the marathon bombings — but despite his sheaf of supporting documents, the woman has been dead for more than a decade, prosecutors say. Attorney General Martha Coakley said Branden Mattier, 22, signed for a fake $2.2 million check when it was presented to him by a trooper disguised as a
FedEx employee yesterday at his South End apartment. Mattier was then arrested on charges of attempted larceny and identity theft, and was to be arraigned
today. [There's an amusing photo of him posing with fund administrator in this link] [ link to bostonherald.com]
