What's this nonsense rumor?

McCarthy has told all Area Detective Commanders to separate any murders caused by rioting. The CHRIS system is being updated to include a "Riot" motive. The Dicks will then assign a new AA records division number to these homicides to separate them from the standard HW homicides.

The fear is that any homicides resulting from a not guilty verdict in the Zimmerman trial will push the city's homicide numbers above 2012 homicides. McCarthy thinks this will unfairly impact his police policies/strategies and wants to group homicides caused by rioting away from the regular violent crime stats.

The Area District Commanders are responsible for insuring that all homicides are properly classified.
