how would you compare thailand to phillipines overall, style of living, costs, etc.

I looked at retirement visas for there pretty recently and seems like it did require $25,000 usd in a thai bank and a monthly income/retirement/pension of $2000 or a certain mount per year income. plus fees.

I also have been told I think that the money in thai banks stays in thailand if you leave. My relative may have thai accounts for him and his thai family, but his primary accounts are in the states even though he has no intention of leaving.
