Ok so the Egyptian army is going to deploy against a small group of gunmen backed by Hamas and the Muslim brotherhood? can somebody explain why it's hard for Egypt to control that area? Is it because of the tunnels underneath the ground? Are these gunmen sneaking into Egypt to raise hell?

Giving your enemy a timeline is the worst military strategy out there. If they want to crush their enemies, it will be by a surprise attack.
