Airflow question to cool my room.
I have a room with 2 windows one on my left side and one on my right side.

The one on the right side has a mobile airconditioner with a tube blowing hot air outside the room and blowing cool air in.

The one on my left is a regular fan witch i've put in front of the window as an exhaust fan.

It's getting dark now and it's cooler outside than inside.

Now my question is:

Should i use the regular fan as intake and not as exhaust fan or just close that window?

The room is 5X10 meters, and the airco is not powerfull enough alone.

What would give the best results?

Answer the question than.

I build my own computers and my room is cooled right now like a desktop pc.

The difference is a desktop pc has no airco intake.

Re: Airflow question to cool my room.
Whatever gives you the cooler air. If the window a/c running with the other window open during the day is cooler, do that. At night if the outside air is cooler, bring it in and turn off the a/c . Is the a/c just not working right, or are you trying to cool too big a room with that unit? If you have, say a 12 x 12 room, a normal $300 a/c unit should keep it nice and cool. I would pick one room of your place, assuming it can be closed off, from the rest, and get an a/c that will cool that room. Put your TV and computer in there during heat waves. That's what Ido and am perfectly satisfied. When the temps get back down to around 85, then Iopen the windows back up.

Re: Airflow question to cool my room.
In my opinion anytime the outside air is cooler than the indoor air you should take advantage of that and turn the fan from exhaust to intake and shut down the A/C (unless you want the indoor air cooled past the point of the available outside air). Additionally, I would only use it as an exhaust if the A/C had been off and the room became very hot and then only exhaust long enough to give the A/C a chance to catch up. When your A/C is running you shouldn't be using the exhaust because you are practically blowing money out of the window. I suspect that's why it seems your A/C can't keep up although without knowing room height, window size, how much southern exposure and B.T.U capacity of the unit it's not possible to tell if the unit itself is undersized.

Depends on the winds relation to the window and relative humidity levels.

It's answer the question 'then', not than. And from your first post, it's 'which' not witch. This is a witch:

Anyways, back to the subject at hand. If i were you i would shut off the fan during the hottest times and run the a/c with the fan window slightly open. It's better if the window opening is closer to the ceiling, but will work with any opening. If you run the fan with the a/c it will quickly suck out all your cool air.

But I'd play with fire to break the ice...
And I'd play with a nuclear device...
Is it something I'll regret?
Why do I want what I can't get?
I wish it didn't have to be so bad...

Re: Airflow question to cool my room.
If outside air is cooler than running an a/c unit inside then the problem is heat buildup in the attic.
Exaust the attic and stop waisting energy trying to cool a hot attic.

Lemme get this straight you have an air conditioner in the room producing cold/cool air and on the other side a fan sucking all the cool air out have I got that correct??????

If you have an air con on one side and an exhaust on the other that's exactly what you're doing!!!!!

The reason it's cooler outside than in is YOU'RE AIR CONDITIONING THE OUTSIDE!!!!!!! AAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!

Re: Airflow question to cool my room.
Never have the air conditioning run while there is a window open, anywhere.

The air conditioner will pull the humidity out of the air and even 5 to 10 degrees cooler outside will seem a lot warmer if it is humid outside.

Every night it gets very humid outside where I live.

So, unless you life in a very dry place, I would try to keep it dry.

The purpose of a fan in a room is to blow air on you, this will cool you not your room.

If your room is very hot using a fan as an exhaust will pull the air out. This won't work well with two windows next to each other.

In the case it is a lot cooler outside and you can't remove the air conditioner, I'd use a window fan to exhaust air and have a window somewhere else to pull the cooler air in from. A fan blowing the air around the room might help.

If the air conditioner is not strong enough I would consider getting a stronger unit.

I'd guess there will be plenty of very uncomfortable hot weather in the near future.

If you can't afford a new air conditioner wearing a damp t-shirt to sleep in helps cool you down.

Keeping your feet in a 5 gallon bucket of cold water helps cool the whole body down.

Keep cool, and drink lots of water.

Definitely a confused mind.
...and he says he builds computers?

God help the buyers of those PC's....or anyone asking for technical help.
