I've seen the date mentioned in a few threads on here. So, an FYI to those who have yammered about it.

Spotted an Interstate sign (trailer type) along I-10 in Florida that states that State Road 285 will be closed for a period on 22 July.

What's the deal with it? 285 goes down through the flight path for the runways at Eglin AFB. It is posted as being subject to closure dependent on base activity.

A couple of tenet commands to Eglin, A US Army special operations base and Duke Airfield (C-130 operations), but neither one of those are near 285.

Just an FYI. No pics... but maybe later if I drive past it again.

Considering the size of aircraft that those runways can handle, that is not out of the question. The airfield is shared with North West Florida Regional Airport and has commercial flights that operate out of there also.

I think the USAF agreed to the civil airport as a way to help avoid the BRAC knife. These are the main runways for Eglin.
