Obama unwittingly stereotyped black American males as incapable of impartial and fair judgment.
Obama today stated that black American males have a difficult time seeing the Zimmerman not guilty verdict in the same light as the jury saw it due to disparate treatment of black males. This stereotypes black Americans as being unable to review facts relating to white people and make fair and impartial decisions that affect white people. In short, he said that if a white man is ever a criminal defendant, a black man could never be a juror as that black man's view is pre-prejudiced against the white man.
I would expect criminal trial attorneys to now be asking potential black jurors if they agree with President Obama's stereotype of black men.
Ultimately, I don't buy that stereotype and I think he made that statement to cater strictly to those "leaders" of the black community who wish to keep whites and blacks separate - the types of Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton, etc.
Most black men, like most white men, are capable of fairly, rationally and impartially making decisions based on facts in evidence. Those "leaders" of the black community have been in denial of the facts admitted in evidence at the Zimmerman trial.
President Obama, please give black Americans more credit - they deserve it.
