all i have is an output for an external monitor, a headphone jack, and usb ports. no s-video or hdmi.

If your TV and laptop have HDMI ports, you can connect them with a HDMI cord.

You should definitely get display by doing this.

For audio, I my case I have to buy separate laptop audio speakers to play sound at a louder level than what my laptop can achieve.

Note: Some laptops and TVs may have S-Video ports, which if connected, should play the laptop's sound through the TV.

you probably will need a vga cable or hdmi depending on how old the laptop is

you will also need a wire for the sound most likely one that looks like a headphone plug in or walkman style plug in

if it is hdmi you might not need the sound wire

right click and goto properties and or screen resolution
from there advanced display in the tabs there should be a way to turn on or off the external display

you must be thinking hdmi that is the only wire that exists that will carry the audio

and only some setups do you may need an adapter like walkman to rca plug ins but newer tvs should have a input for the sound

Does your LG have a VGA input. It is like input on your standard computer monitor.
I so you will need a male to male VGA cable and an 1/8 male to 1/8"ale audio cable.
Plug them in toggle the laptop to output to external display and boom your in it to win it.

Get an Apple TV then use Airplay. Easy.

You can try a 'video console' with audio for rgb to vga or hdmi, or whichever it is you need.
