US Marshalls lose 2000 encrypted radios
The U.S. Marshals Service has lost track of at least 2,000 encrypted two-way radios and other communication devices valued at millions of dollars, according to internal agency documents, creating what some within the agency view as a security risk for federal judges, endangered witnesses and others.

It is apparent that negligence and incompetence has resulted in a grievous mismanagement of millions of dollars of USMS property," according to a 2011 presentation by the agency's Office of Strategic Technology.

It's government....expect no less from them.

$100 bucks says a majority of the encrypted radios are now in the hands of the Mexican drug cartels.

US Marshall's radios would be useless to mercenaries in Syria.
The power sources aren't even compatible.

I work closely with several Marshalls. They are good guys, just trying to keep an eye on important people mostly. It's not their fault this happened. They honestly were kept pretty much out of the loop.

A more accurate term would be "transmitters." Read the Sandy Hook threads.

$6 million bucks worth of radios sold even at wholesale is a couple million easy....at the minimum.
(the radios range from approximately $2,000 to $5,000 each)
