Slowly developing this theory too...

Worked my ass off for 3 years, taking on more and more challenges, responsibilities, and duties of other higher up positions... requested review for or raise and/or promotion... told it sbouldnt be a problem. "Let's sit down in 3 weeks..." it has now been 7 months, with 6 requests, and on top of that, MORE responsibility. In fact, I'm doing a director job in TWO locations an hour apart in ONE day. No raise, no overtime, no promotion...

Radio business can suck balls.

I guess it's EBT, Obamacare, and Obama 2016 for you..huh?

My salary is more than enough to get me by, without lifting a finger. What motivates me is the sales commission I get, based on the revenue I generate for the place I manage. I also work for a small private company with a cool owner, who let's me do my own thing. They know who they hired, and they know the job gets done properly, the first time with no bitching and whining. Instead of hording what little cash I get, I usually try and help friends out where ever I can. Pisses my wife off to no end, but then again, I earned it fair and square.

I feel this way as well. In my 20s, I would literally break my back to impress my boss. This would lead to more responsibilties, bigger work load, more headaches, and the same pay every week. I was once told that I wouldn't be promoted due to being a victim of my own success... WTF?!

Now I'm 34, and couldn't give two shits and a fuck. Fuck being a glorified slave. I do as much as needed to not get fired. There's way more things of importance in life than money. Wake up, people!

I love the responses. Awesome! Don't work hard but do enough to not get fired. Pretend like you care about your work and play office politics always pretending to be on the side of the company. I think many understand what you are saying, I do. It is hard to keep up a high level of work output when it's known no increases are available. I have had only one small increase in the last 7 years.

However I will not be defined by others, I will set my own standards and not the incompetent or greedy. I will do what I can keeping my own safety and others around me a priority and try hard not to stress over the rest..
