Re: Tao Te Ching
My favorite Seventy-Six:

A man is born gentle and weak.
At his death he is hard and stiff.
Green plants are tender and filled with sap.
At their death they are withered and dry.

Therefore the stiff and unbending is the disciple of death.
The gentle and yielding is the disciple of life.

Thus an army without flexibility never wins a battle.
A tree that is unbending is easily broken.

The hard and strong will fall.
The soft and weak will overcome.

I'm so glad I settled myself down enough to read through this thread and focus on Lao Tzu.

I'm always so happy to cyber-see you sweetie! I've been outside a lot enjoying the summer weather, means less time on the 'puter. A little balance is good for me.

Not always so.

Only to a dualistic mind set Mr Lao Tzu

I see a flower is beautiful, i see bugs on it eating it alive so i remove them and look at one....he is beautiful so i give him another flower to eat with many more petals, and as my flower starts to whither i take to the bugs and watch them eat it, that's a beautiful sight.

thwak try again Mr Lao Tzu, you are a mighty grasshopper with far to go ;)

I still haven't found the answer to -what I believe to be thus far- the greatest question of my life, despite my religious study of the Tao. Which admittedly, I keep neglecting because I can't find my answer.

That's what we call chasing our own tail.
 Quoting: Cloud Hidden

How do I find my answer? It's maddening at times.

I can't simply just pick one path and stick with it. I need to be spiritually and emotionally invested in my choice, or I will fail the objective.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 43987400

Accept where you are right now. Feel that frustration? That's your path. Not to stay frustrated, but to accept the frustration as it arises, and to let it go as you find answers, and then to accept it again when it inevitably arises again, on and on and on.

The witness of this process is the goal.

Becoming aware of this fact, practicing awareness of this fact, remembering this fact, is the true path.

Everything else is merely the drama necessary to give your mind something to focus on.

The asking is the Meaning...lol
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 40051105

The asking is the burning.

When the burning is done, and all that remains are ashes, and the ashes blow away...

...then everything is clear.

LOL, you're proving Lao's point.

You feed the bugs with the flower because to you, they are beautiful compared to the flower, which, otherwise you would leave alone.

Bugs contrast flowers, people feel one way about one, so they feel the other way about the other. Each defines the other because of the values we give them.

Lao wasn't making a value judgment - he was describing the dualistic interconnectedness of value judgements. And you gave a perfect example of what he meant.
