Chemical tasting frozen vegetables. Should you rinse frozen veggies?
I don't buy generics but I suppose this is GMO too. I got a package of WesPac baby lima beans, Pictsweet brussel sprouts, and a bag of Bird's Eye broccoli. I maybe took 3 bites out of the entire bags. Such a waste of money! I know I should be at the Farmer's Market but I live so far away from one that sometimes it isn't possible.

Has anyone else had problems with frozen veggies tasting off?

What about rinsing off frozen veggies?

I think they start to taste funny after a week in a frost free freezer they get freezer burnt.
I prefer using tinned vegetables for that reason.

I know the vegetables here are good quality, grown in Australia, and after 1 week in the freezer they taste like shit.
I simply don't buy frozen vegies anymore tinned ones taste good.

Seriously?

Put them in a strainer and run cold water over them

You really couldn't work that one out?

Well you need to scrub them or rinse them in vinegar and water. You should defrost them first I'm sure... if ice is on them I don't think they will rinse that well.

Not to mention that frozen veggies have a tendency to become soft where as fresh is firmer... easier to scrub? Comon quit being a dumbass.

We thaw them and then rinse them before refreezing them (the day we buy them). It might seem excessive, but I do not trust the packaging company and it's always better to be safe than sorry --- unless you want risk your asshole burning from a stomach virus.
