Flew from Portland, OR. to Atlanta, and back again a couple of years ago. After returning to Portland, upon opening my luggage, there was an inspection card inside. TSA found it necessary to open my luggage for some reason. Nothing was missing, but I got a bedbug infestation afterwards from this. This was a sealed Pelican case, they're airtight & waterproof! Fuckin planted bedbugs, I swear! Never had them before or since. (after fumigating the house & washing all linen & clothes) |

Esoteric Morgan ...in awe of many things User ID: 26943919 United States 07/28/2013 12:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This thread is curious, so I've done a search for sunflower seed symbolism. But, how the search results figure in to two random TSA agents placing them in your luggage is an 'agenda' I cannot even imagine at this point: ----------------------------------------------- The Message of the Sunflowers: A Magic Symbol of Peace by Georgianna Moore, March 2002 Dedicated to the Children of the World Who Will Sow the Sunflower Seeds of Peace excerpt: "Sunflowers have become the symbol of a world free of nuclear weapons. After Ukraine gave up its last nuclear warhead, the Defense Ministers of the US, Russia and Ukraine met on a former Ukrainian missile base, June 4, 1996. They celebrated by scattering sunflower seeds and planting sunflowers. Former US Secretary of Defense William Perry said, "Sunflowers instead of missiles in the soil will ensure peace for future generations."" [link to www.wagingpeace.org] ------------------------------ EXHIBIT at TATE MODERN: SUNFLOWER SEEDS AI WEIWEI "...Fabrication of the required 150 tonnes of seeds, from trials to completion, took almost two and a half years, and at its peak employed around 1,600 artisans, placing Ai—a frequent visitor to the community—in the ambiguous positions of factory boss and art patron, controlling workers’ destinies just as the old elites had done. And, like the fragile porcelain seeds themselves, this curious project may bear limited fruit... ... it is evident that Ai feels the work’s role, and his role as artist, is to hint at universal questions concerning obligations, values, strengths, rights and materialism in society, and through these to challenge fixed power structures." [link to artasiapacific.com] ------------------------------------- "SPIRITUAL MEANING OF THE SUNFLOWER Sunflower has been adopted as a symbol of happiness, strength, a love of the sun & sunlight and because it is said to always turn its face to the sun it is considered by some to be a symbol of faith. Some believe that the sunflower represents a constant search for light, or enlightenment. The Chinese believe sunflowers symbolize long life and good luck." Anonymous Coward User ID: 23322424 Canada 07/28/2013 12:28 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My strange situation, Canada to Chicago. Opened my luggage to find a note saying that I was a random check as well. The thing was, my nail clippers were taken apart and strategically place in different parts of my luggage. They did not or could not just fall apart. I mean, seriously, somebody would have had to squeeze the two pieces together and twist off the remaining pieces. If that was not enough they had to be physically placed in different compartments of my luggage. In a few months I will have to go fom Canada to San Francisco. Anyways I am going to take apart my nail clippers and place them back in the same location of my luggage. I will also place two sun flower seeds and report back my results to GLP. (leaving last week of Sept.) |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1725135 There's a huge potato field across the street and only 2 sunflowers standing in it! I'll take pics when I walk my dog! Weird! I wonder if there is a message there. I can see it happening once, but twice, the same thing, on both legs of the trip. Just strange! |

TSA I'm sure looking for drugs not bombs opened the bag and then did not reseal it - a pound of coffee though out my entire bag. They also for the second time left my shaving kit unzipped. On previous trips I've had sunflower seeds spit in my luggage, my carefully pressed clothes dumped back in my baggage, an expensive camera lens taken out of its zip case and then just thrown back in my luggage. I understand security, but do we really have to accept the rude arrogant attitude and coffee spilled all over my bag to have security?
