Re: benfotiamine, fat soluble vitamin b1, for nerve pain e.g. diabetic neuropathy and shingles
I'm a bio-chemist, and a nutritionist and I've been personally using and recommending Benfotiamine to clients for several years with remarkable results.

It is a fat-soluble form of B-1, and thus stays in the system way longer, and isn't "peed out" right away. I've had great success with less than 1 gram per day. I use Life Extension products personally and in my practice and they are amongst the best. For Benfotiamine I use Swanson Health Products which is the number one rated online and catalog vitamin company in the world because you can get the same product less money. They have a 160 mg size for $5, and the 300 mg size for $10 and even using 2/day it costs between $5 and $10 per month for a bottle of 60 capsules (320 mg to 600 mg per day).

Benfotiamine is also amazingly good for the circulatory system and kidneys in addition to the neuropathy benefits. That is what I use it for. In addition to Benfotiamine, I would add R-Alpha Lipoic acid, Enteric coated 2400 unit strength Bromelain 500mg, and 95% Curcumin 500 mg which are a fabulous adjunct for serious cases of neuropathy.

I hope this helps!

My partner has fibro-mialga / MS type symptoms , she has been checked for MS and did not have it , she has pain in her legs and face , numbness and tingling sensations as well , do you think Benfotiamine might offer any relief for theses types of things ? If so how much would be a safe dose to take and how often ? Any help would be much appreciated , she has been to doctor after doctor and there either not interested or can't get to the bottom of it , thanks

I'm going to get some of this as soon as I get paid again.

I pray it works, because I'm in such pain!

I pray it works for you and everyone!

My hands have been numb, tingling, on fire, in vice grips for five years.

A vitamin deficiency, diabetes is not my
my issue...it's a pinched nerve in my neck. I'm gonna try this to see if there is relief. The pain is relentless.

For Shingles take an L-Lysine supplement both topical and internal, will be gone within a day or two.

Take regularly after that to prevent future outbreaks.

Drink large quantities of Grapefruit Juice, 100% pure not concentrate. Takes maybe 4 or 5 days to start taking effect.

Drink glass everyday after symptoms subside to keep at bay.

Known several people who have done this for pinched nerve. Works!

Note: If you are taking a steroid for a pinched nerve the insert will say DO NOT DRINK GRAPEFRUIT JUICE it amplifies the effect of the steroid. Hence how this theory began.

This vitamin occurs naturally in garlic, shallots, leeks and onions.

For those asking about dosages look it up and read the studies that have been done on it.

Very seldom will the pain stop...but when it does subside... I think wow I'm getting better! Then 20 seconds later... All numbed up with tingles, fire and vice grip pain.

The ice pick pain in my wrists is something I would really love to help.
When it flares up...it's a regular every 10 seconds a hot radiating jab through my wrists. I put hot then cold to take my mind off of it.

Getting Grapefruit today.

Does it matter pink or white Grapefruit?

Pink is what we have used. And BTW I didn't mean drink it with steroids. Probably be a bad idea. I meant drink grapefruit juice to help with the nerve inflammation.

Yes I understand the effects of Grapefruit and certain meds...

I think antibiotics may also be included with that warning.

I don't do steroids...I don't do any of the meds the doctors suggest...the side effects are worse than living with the pain. They'll just give you a pill for the side effects...then it's hard to get off that roller coaster.

Some people have several meds one to treat another pill's symptoms.

Re: benfotiamine, fat soluble vitamin b1, for nerve pain e.g. diabetic neuropathy and shingles
i have diabetic neuropathy
it is horribly painful
nothing helped until i started taking benfotiamine, a fat soluble form of thiamine, vitamin b1

i use a gram a day, and it stopped the horrible pain symptoms fairly much from the first dose

you can find it on ebay and amazon, the cheapest brand i found is from life extension, at the 1 gram a day dose, which was used in a medical study, it goes for about $20 a month

haven't read of any side effects so far

of course, i am not a medical doctor and can't diagnose or prescribe

go to benfotiamine.org for more info

this must be tried to be believed

Re: benfotiamine, fat soluble vitamin b1, for nerve pain e.g. diabetic neuropathy and shingles
Oil based B-1 Benfotiamine, vs regular water based B-1, stays in fatty tissue longer to work longer..

70% of the brain is fatty tissue. Thus is helps Brain Nerves, Alzheimer's, Back Pain and Foot pain, regardless if you are a Diabetic or not.

Normal dosage is 250-600 mg 2 times a day.

Excess sugar damages nerves.. This processes it and moves it away from the nerves.

A friend's M.D. has him on this at 600 mg twice a day.. for his Prostate issue.. along with Alpha Lipoic Acid, and 2 other supplements he could not remember.

Originally I researched this for a Diabetic friend who had foot nerve pain. I had some myself, and less than half a bottle stopped the pain I had for some 3 years.

6 months ago while reviewing my notes, I noticed the Brain Nerve benefit.. pulled out my old bottle and took 1 - 250 mg pill before bedtime.

I awoke more clear minded, focused, energized and motivated to get things done.

So I increased the dose to twice a day..

In 6 weeks my lower back pain from an auto wreck decreased by some 50%.. and I had been aggravating it doing spring yard and garden work.

I now take 500 mg twice a day..

* * *
Also for pain..
Jarrow Formulas - MSM-Sulfur, a mineral, can also help a lot of different pains. 1-2 tsp in a shot of water.. 1-2x/day.

Wheat causes Diabetics.. and turns to sugar.. Cut all wheat out of your diet. Wheat is hidden in many processed foods.. Replace it with fatty meat, cheese, coconut oil, butter.. for energy.

The best cheap Rx pain killer is a drug from the 1930's that can be ordered from overseas without a script.. Dilantin.. 100-300 mg / day is the normal dosage.

Magnesium, Epsom Salt Baths are also great for muscle pain.

Everyone is deficient in minerals. People with pain are especially deficient in Magnesium and Sulfur, a MD told me.

Use the internet to research and educate yourself, folks.
