WHY would U.S. close the embassy in Israel, among the other ME and N. Africa ones?

Most likely outcome of this non-event is a statement saying our steadfast intelligence agencies stopped the dire plot, but no more information can be told due to "reasons of national security" and an "ongoing investigation".

Ya, they are however closing some affiliated sites that are normally open on Sunday in Israel.

Those would be: American Center in Jerusalem and the Haifa Consular Agency.
