Cinco de Mayo have nothing to do with the USA.

Yet it is still being celebrated in the USA as if it's the greatest American festival that have nothing to do with the USA. It's bullshit.

It's a freaking Mexican holiday!

Why do we celebrate Saint Patrick's Day? That's an Irish holiday.

Same reason, it's a celebration of heritage for some and solidarity and cultural appreciation for others.

Besides, it's a good excuse to celebrate, and what's wrong with that?

Lighten up!

Re: Why Americans are celebrating Cinco de Mayo?!!
A lot of people think 5 de Mayo is the Mexican Independence day.

5 de Mayo is the battle of Puebla and it is not a big deal in Mexico. Sure there is the day off and Puebla city has a parade. Nothing else.

Your AMERICAN BEER COMPANIES made 5 de Mayo a huge celebration IN USA. They didn't chose 16 of September (Mexican Independence day) because that day, TEQUILA is the favorite one.

It is here, in USA where 5 de mayo, is a big deal. Marketing at their best.

Re: Why Americans are celebrating Cinco de Mayo?!!
don't let this 'fifth of may' stuff bother you when your fellow Americans accept it as an excuse to party, and don't be bothered by the lack of support for anti-illegal-mexican protests, it simply proves that the marches changed nothing and had no enduring effects, we are still Americans, this is still our country, we will continue to do whatever the hell we feel like doing, and the mexicans are still a bunch of impotent rabble-rouser welfare-leeches that nobody anywhere on this planet gives a crap about. Just count it as us conquering their holiday, they can ad it to the list of stuff they figure we stole from them while they suck our medical system dry birthing their worthless mutant offspring at our expense. As a race they would die out without our welfare, they can breed 'em but they can't feed 'em.

Yes we celebrate fifth of may, but it's a worthless breeder carjacker serving us the drinks.

That is True.
5 of May is like flag day for Mexico.
It's only in U.S. were people make a big deal out of it. weird? I think most mexicans don't even know what is celebrated that day.
