PATTIE BRASSARD WENT FULL RETARD
Anyone else finding it difficult to accept Pattie Brassard as credible?
"I lost my security clearance, but still utilize the observatory....." "I have photos of Nibz, but they're not very good....."

norespect

Additionally, she uses too much GLP terminology for a NASA insider. She's no whistleblower, she's a GLPer!

Did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
Did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?

Someone should check to see if she has a Real Estate license. She seems like she is trying to spook people into moving away from California. That would be illegal.

She's full of shit.
Here's the link to the pictures:

Wow, so this is it? This is what she claims to have inside info on? This is the great, feared "Nibiru?" Wow, so all these pages on this thread are actually about yet another google sky/WWT/wikisky artifact hunter. I guess the twist is that this one claims to have "inside info." Well her "inside info" apparently lead her to find the droppings of an airplane that flew through the Palomar Sky Survey lol. Let's start with this picture, my favorite of the bunch:

[link to i1280.photobucket.com]

Ok, so she found the distorted image of a strobe light from a plane captured by the Palomar Sky Survey on Microsoft WWT and decided that it was "strange" "unusual" and "holy shit it's Nibiru" because it doesn't have an "ID" as an object in space? LOL, NOOOOOOOB! This tard did not even use primary source material, I bet anything she's clueless on what the source material is, when it was recorded, or how to access it in a way that doesn't involve google sky, microsoft WWT, wikisky or any other "sky mosaic webware" of the like.

Ok, so here's the deal; when the Palomar sky survey was conduced decades ago, planes would sometimes fly through the field of view during the exposure. I call it the Palomar sky survey for short, but really it was a survey called the Palomar Sky Survey 2 / United Kingdom Schmidt Telescope Unit. It was performed by both the Oschin Schmidt telescope at Palomar and a sister scope, the UK Schmidt telescope at the Anglo-Australian Observatory. These were hour long exposures on glass film plates, and for the most part a plane flying through for 2 seconds wouldn't impact the view, but it would leave behind defocused spots of light from the strobe lights and navigation lights on the plane. Because the pair of sister telescopes used for the survey had fairly long focal lengths (about 3 meters) and were at infinity focus to focus on the distant stars and galaxies, a relatively nearby plane overhead would actually be somewhat out-of-focus.

In this case, a plane flew through the red sensitive film plate of the survey. The survey consisted of monochromatic blue, red, and infrared film plates (that's right, the "visible" light setting on google sky et al are actually showing you a bit of infrared light as well). Those film plates have been combined by google sky et al (including Microsoft WWT) to create a color mosaic of the sky. The processing done by Google, Microsoft, etc degrades the original image quality and the algorithms they used to do it get seriously fucked up if something only appears in a single film plate but not the others, such as this. That's why it looks "splotchy." The shape is just a bokeh effect because it's out of focus; it's the shape of the optics of the telescope, circular with a central obstruction. Here's what the original Palomar image looks like:
[link to archive.stsci.edu]
As you can see, there are multiple such spots, and they're parallel to the out-of-focus line caused by the red navigation light. The spots are strobe flashes, and apparently there was a strobe in the nav light as well which went off simultaneously. You can also see that the navigation light passed very close to the edge of the film plate itself, and the irregular shape of the film plate impinged itself upon the shape of the defocused strobe flash. If you look closely at the strobe flashes you can even see a bit of motion blur from the motion of the plane during the flash. That's how powerful this telescope is.

For completeness, here are the corresponding blue and IR film plates of those coordinates, respectively:
[link to archive.stsci.edu]
[link to archive.stsci.edu]

Ok so next image, let's take a look at this one:
[link to i1280.photobucket.com]
Not sure what's supposed to be so special about this? The constellation border shown in the image reveals right away that it's looking at the direction of Taurus, the little marker she's got in the center of the image is on the border of Taurus and Orion. J2000.0 coordinates are approximately RA: 5h 49m 17s, Dec: +19d 24' 06". The field of view is very wide, encompassing the entire constellation of Taurus and then some. I really don't see what's supposed to be out of the ordinary in this image. It's not visible light though, it appears to be a gamma radiation wavelength view of those coordinates (here's an example from the Fermi telescope: [link to img191.imageshack.us] ), but I don't see anything unusual about the image, particularly where her pointer is at the center of the screen.

So no, nothing actually "unidentified" is in her images, let alone "Nibiru" or some "second sun with 7 planets around it approaching" lol.

I think she will use the meteor shower as "proof" that we are beginning to be nailed by debris travelling with the incoming "solar system"

If there is in fact a nemesis planet, surely we can do better than this at proving the fact. If people on the West Coast bug out over Pattie's forecast, than I pray for it's return sooner than later.

Maybe Pattie is right? I have no idea, and neither does anyone else. She might be wrong too, again, nobody knows for sure.

I'd wait atleast a few months to see if anything happens before calling BS on her.

I'll say one thing about her tho, she has alot of guts to put herself out there like she did, probably knowing full well the amount of backlash and ridicule she would get.

Kudos to her for doing what she feels is right, regardless if it comes to pass of not.

I got caught up in this story also. I did a little research on the web and found this woman to be nothing more than a low level engineering tech/assistant. Her experience reads computer tech and she helped assemble some electronic jamming missile warheads. This does not make her an expert, scientist, or anything other than a person telling a story which probably is not true.

Yea, well, I fixed that. Names aren't important. lol

Maybe Pattie is right? I have no idea, and neither does anyone else. She might be wrong too, again, nobody knows for sure.

Actually I do. See above. Her evidence shows she has no idea what she's talking about and what she thinks is "Nibiru" is anything but. She is wrong and that's a fact.
I'd wait atleast a few months to see if anything happens before calling BS on her.
 Quoting: Lisa

Absolutely no need to do so. The evidence she provided already proves she's clueless and wrong and she herself set the date only a few days into the future. There is absolutely no need in any way, shape, or form to give her an ounce of credibility for some ambiguous "few months" when her own claim times out after just a few days. Fuck that.
I'll say one thing about her tho, she has alot of guts to put herself out there like she did, probably knowing full well the amount of backlash and ridicule she would get.
 Quoting: Lisa

It's not guts, it's called being an attention whoring liar.
Kudos to her for doing what she feels is right, regardless if it comes to pass of not.
 Quoting: Lisa

Kudos to her for being an attention whore? Ha!

You seem very angry. I guess it all comes down to personal opinion.
 Quoting: Lisa*Lisa

It's not a matter of opinion or emotion. It is a matter of fact; she is trying to pass off an old image of an airplane strobe light on the palomar sky survey as "Nibiru." She's not even the first to do so with that very same artifact. She is wrong, and laughably so for someone claiming to be an "insider" with all kinds of experience in astronomy. She couldn't even be bothered to use a primary source for the image.
I'm going to wait a few months to see if what she says happens,
 Quoting: Lisa

Do whatever you want lisa, drink up the kookaid, I don't really care what you personally choose to do. Lord knows no amount of logic or evidence will ever convince you otherwise. I find it funny though; even her self-imposed expiration date on her claims is of no consequence to you. You make excuses for her and show that you simply want to believe it's real which is why you'll still be waiting in the great pumpkin patch long after Halloween is over. Have fun, Linus.

You're just full of anger and ridicule......because I won't jump on your wagon and agree with you.........LOL!

Fact is, when it comes to something I know nothing about, I agree with nobody and wait to see what materializes before making any decisions one way or another.

Whatever.....God bless you anyways.

Peace.
