Breaking President of Iraqi Kurdistan ready to defend Kurds in Syria
Masoud Barzani, the president of the Iraqi Kurdistan region, has said that he will use “all capabilities” to defend Kurdish civilians who are under threat by Al-Qaeda-linked fighters involved in the Syrian civil war.

The statement comes days after reports of a possible massacre in Syria.

Barzani said that he wants a committee to be formed to look into reports of violence, and has hinted that the autonomous region of northern Iraq, which has a well-equipped army, would intervene militarily to defend Syrian Kurds.

In a letter which he posted online Saturday on the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) website, he said that he told Kurdish representatives to go to Syria and investigate reports that “terrorists of Al-Qaeda are attacking the civilian population and slaughtering innocent Kurdish women and children.”

“If the reports are true, showing that citizens, women and children of innocent Kurds are under threat from murder and terrorism, Iraq’s Kurdistan region will make use of all its capabilities to defend women and children and innocent civilians,” the letter continued.

As well as being posted online Saturday, the letter was sent on Thursday to the preparatory committee for a Kurdish National Conference to be held later this month in Arbil – located in the far north of Iraqi Kurdistan.

Time to hunt some Al-Qaeda fuckers! Couple this with the fact that PJAK from Iran is sending troops by the hundreds, and they have some military hardware. However, the KRG will send tanks and whatnot to fuck up some Al-Qaeda bastards.

And if that's not enough the PKK that left Turkey for Iraq is also itching I'd wager.

Al-Qaeda fucked up. Took on the wrong people. Did the Arabs somehow forget Kurds have been fighting thousands of years before any Arab even picked up a sword. Did they somehow forget that Kurds are Sallahdins' people?

from what I could gather the Kurds tried staying neutral in this conflict if this true I would agree with you on Al-Qaeda but its not as if Kurds are a new enemy to them its just taking the conflict to a new battlefield

This may benefit Assad as the ''FSA'' has brought an influx of more fighters against themselves hell of a way to shoot yourself in the foot

Outside of the PKK, and the nationalistic want for Kurdistan...the Kurds are actually some of the more sane 'Muslims' in the region.

They've got their shit together in Northern Iraq at least.

Yes, on the 8th FSA terrorists slaughtered around 450 unarmed Kurds, including 120 Children

Sick people, I am glad that the Iraqi Kurds are going to help their people in Syria, they need protecting

Can you remember the story of The turks seeing a map in a nato HQ in Italy of a reshaped Middle East involving sections of Countries carved out to accommodate Kurdistan ?

Kind of puts a lot of this conflict into picture we may be seeing an establishment of a breakaway Country forming soon

Ya, Turkey is a bit of a problem in that regards. Iraq, Syria, Iran...don't care let the Kurds carve that out.

I don't particularly like the PKK at all, but Turkey was doing itself no favors for their ham handed approach.

I hear the Kurds in Northern Iraq don't like the southern Arab Iraqi's coming up there.

Can't imagine why... :)

This could get real. Most people do not understand that Kurdistan considers itself sovereign enough to have a no shit Army. Complete with tanks, anti aircraft guns, artillery etc etc, and not just a couple of them either.

Watching them mobilize on Kirkuk during my time in Iraq was something I'll never forget. Kurdistan is not a joke.

I Remember they were calling for arms of their own when Syria did kick off as they knew they would be pulled into the conflict and they have done well not to go offensive as of yet as I can recall a few Skirmishes but they held their line and went no further

It's already very real. PJAK is sending hundreds of soldiers. Where do you think PKK fighters will go now they stopped the fight for Kurdish rights in Turkey? Combine that with this statement from the president of KRG - and you get soldiers from all over Kurdistan joining forces to fuck some Al-Qaeda Arabs up.

Indeed most people are clueless about us Kurds. That's why I like the American military and the Israeli, they know who the Kurds are!

Tried to stay neutral, but that only works so much when you're being killed because you are Kurdish. And if nobody speaks up for you and if nobody mentions your suffering and if everybody has forgotten you, then you must rise up arms to survive, plain and simple.

Al-Qaeda has never taken a war against the Kurds this far, issuing a fatwa making Kurdish blood "legal".

The best thing the US could do is support the Kurds to the point where these Al-Qaeda Arabs will leave the Kurds alone. That way they get to use their arab puppets against Assad and they end up killing each other.

Kurds have existed in the middle east longer than any arab, turk, persian or assyrian have. People like Saddam, Assad, Khamenei, Erdogan... they are scared of Kurds. They know we know how to survive. As are these Al-Qaeda forces. Kurdish women in Syria are fighting these Al-Qaeda thugs and kicking their ass as we speak. However, there is only so much a few people can do without support! SUPPORT THE KURDS! BIJI KURDISTAN!
