Ask your doctor about Vistaril. Its not addictive and it works for some people. Try to find something natural that helps. Sometimes a cold beer works wonders :) |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 45049814 Netherlands 08/12/2013 10:07 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Bullshit. If someone is experiencing anxiety telling them that it doesn't exist is heartless. I've only experienced it once in my life and it fucking sucked. I had 3 weeks of misery and bad dreams, and life sucked. I was going to go to my doctor and ask for some meds. Fortunately I did get through it without anything, but to say it doesn't exist, FUCK YOU and your flowers. |

But they do improve quality of life for many people. |

Anxiety is all in your mind and it can be controlled. A few years ago I had some hormone problems which caused me to have several panic attacks each day. I tried my best to control my mind, but nothing helped. Only Valium would make the panic attacks stop, but I didn't care for the drugged up feeling. Good news is that I got my hormone levels correct and the panic attacks went away. It really depends on what is causing anxiety/panic. General everyday anxiety CAN be controlled without meds. I think the term for this is Generalized Anxiety. |

I'm not even kidding lol! You have to remove the stress from your life. As for controlling it... Cognitive therapy and Xanax were the only things that worked for me. Medication is iffy, just don't take too much. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 4260552 Seen this many times... it is common to the entire class of meds called Benzodiazepines (partial list of class = Librium, Valium/Diazepam, Xanax/Alprazolam, Ativan/Lorazepam, Alepam/Oxazepam, Prasepine/Centrax/Prazepam, Tranxene/Clorazepate, Halcion/Triazolam, Versed/Midazolam) Versed is the mother of all Benzo's - insanely fast acting, and very short lived...6 hours of valium stupor packed into 10-15 minutes of catatonia. It is used by paramedics to temporarily paralyze a person for airway intubation and other traumatic procedures in rescue work. It causes near-total short term amnesia... when a person who's been in an accident says they can't recall what they were doing, or what happened leading up to the crash, believe them if they were given this shit! If that doesn't tell you how damaging long-term use of benzo's is, I don't know how to explain it. |

I get some pretty bad anxiety attacks, so if I feel one coming on I take one. I also was told I could dissolve it under my tounge for faster results? sounds right. you taking the 2 mg? Just .5 MG. I don't need a high MG dosage. The .5 MG knocks the edge off the anxiety attack. Also, the .5 MG shouldn't do much withdrawl damage if/when I decide to get off it. |

I don't think .5 MG or 1 MG will do much of anything in a withdrawal. |
snark Forum Administrator User ID: 35949533 United States 08/13/2013 10:40 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Let me just suggest another natural anxiety helper for those who are (rightly) cautious about benzos. Passionflower- you can get it at GNC. It works really well, and doesn't give you that benzo groggy aftereffect. Be really careful with the benzos if you are at all disposed to depression or any issue on the bipolar scale. They can do you much harm if you are. T For Texas, T For Tennessee!
