William Shelton, commander of Air Force Space Command has just dropped a bombshell in a recently leaked memo. The Air Force Space Surveillance System, or Space Fence, is to be shut down as of October 1st. If the shutdown goes through, the US will lose 40% of its orbital tracking system. more at link: [link to www.geek.com] Now is it just me or does this seem like a dumb idea to anyone with half a brain? The article also mentions that there is no replacement in the works. Sounds like they might be leaving the window open when they go on vacation to me.. Just saying.  |
