Re: Surge of brain activity may explain near-death experience, study says
What I've uncovered thus far---

The soul is not immortal---you are a soul and it dies with the body

The spirit returns to God at death

Two resurrections reassemble everyone that has ever lived---the first being the saved in Christ, the second being those that were not who will face the Second Death after the Great White Throne Judgement

NDEs may be experiences of the varying levels of hell and heaven realms---it seems that those that are saved and / or are given an authentically Divine message (I.E. that is not conflicting with the Bible---such as Howard Pittman's) access higher realms of Heavenly realms while those that are lost experience the higher realms of hell wherein they are invariably allowed to be deceived by Satan / demonic forces who appear as 'Beings of light' and relay non-Biblical messages that in general comprise of 'Just be loving, all roads lead to God, all religions are the same' ETC

And, of course, this synhretic message is also being peddled by the United Nations who are heavily influenced by Alice A Bailey and Madam HP Blavatsky who received their messages that also deny Christ's salvation from the (deceiving) spirit realms.

Notice how millions of chanellers today are receiving the very same message that demotes Christ to just being a 'Good teacher' or 'A prophet' (just as Islam does which was transmitted by a spirit) by spirits that claim to be 'Ascended masters', 'Aliens' and a host of other oddities---common theme in all nefarious agencies whether terrestrial or from the spirit realm------attack or demote the salvation of Jesus Christ, voila......

I've had one and it's real. As long as there are Humans there will be disagreement, but I drowned a few decades ago and can tell you:

1. This has nothing to do with "religion" which is a Human construct to control
2. The "you" that is that little voice inside your head is the "you" that has always been and will always be. It cannot die, but the body you inhabit will die
3. The only thing that has any importance or significance is LOVE. Get that right and your manifestation in Human form is a success. Material goods/wealth has no meaning except to other Humans.

All they've proven is that when the heart stops there is an increase in brain activity.

HOW does this prove there is no afterlife?

It doesn't prove there is no afterlife. Looked at a certain way, it infers it.

Don't bet on it.

NDEs change people's lives permanently and the visions often continue.

ah science, at it again. If we can't it explain it away, it must not exist.

I have read more than a few accounts where people died of totally terminal, end-stage disease, only to come back and be miraculously, completely healed, or to receive a rapid rate of recovery, etc. Others end up having unusual abilities they didn't have before, to see spirits, to know the future, and a variety of other "gifts" they did not previously possess - some of these wane with time. These people come back with anywhere from a moderate to extreme change in their lives, some in their beliefs (this seems to depend on the depth/length) of their experience, and whether they communicated with God or other spirits or were given certain knowledge during their time out of body.

Many of them describe the scene in the room where they died, in adjoining rooms, etc. even if they are physically blind and were coded at the time.

Some came back to tell of meeting siblings they never knew, only to find that there had been a death of a baby or child in their family they were never told of. Some saw someone who had just passed from their town, neighborhood, or family, only to wake up to find out the person had recently died.

Yup.

And all extensively documented across literally THOUSANDS of individuals from all backgrounds and all walks of life.

If it were "extensively documented", there would be a lot fewer atheists in the world.

We have no evidence for a god or an afterlife. We have PLENTY of evidence that mankind will lie at any given opportunity. Which is more likely... a person died and experienced an afterlife, or that he saw some weird shit that didn't make sense (as per the article) and embellished it to sell a book or appear in a documentary?

They cant even explain life or consciousness, let alone death

Nobody has a clue about what is going on or understands what we are or what any of this really is

Re: Surge of brain activity may explain near-death experience, study says
it's the terminology that is the issue

nde is not a true medical term , it's a term used by anyone to interperet a parasympathetic response, often claimed by the religious as an experience of entering an afterlife.

the near death experience is the experience that nearly resulted in death, ie the trauma.

legal death may be pronounced when breathing and heart stops, but plenty of people have walked out of morgues, toe tags attached. death to a body cannot be positively determined until decomposition.

what you are describing is the psycosomatic response to the experience, which is basically a more severe fight or flight response.

it's shock that causes the sensation of floating out/above the body, and is experienced in many trauma situations. so are the hallucinations described.your heart does not need to stop for this to occur.

after an mva, i watched hospital staff x ray me from floating up near the ceiling. when returning to my body i thought i was a lawnmower in a dark garage, with people walking past a brightly lit doorway.

i eventually realised if i asked them to come in and start me, eveything would get more normal. when i did come back, the pain made me wish i was the lawnmower again, and i was able to return to the dark garage with the brightly lit doorway to escape the peak of the pain waves.

drs told me they had heard hundreds of variations of the same type of experience, which has everything to do with trauma and shock and nothing to do with death, which may follow trauma , but there are no true reported experiences of.

recreational drug users frequently report similar hallucinations or experiences, which the religious seem to steer clear of touting as ndes.

Re: Surge of brain activity may explain near-death experience, study says
Despite all its previous successes, our current system of sciences is still in its infant stage so to speak.

Our so called "3D world" is just a very tiny speck amid countless other (subtle )worlds and dimensions so to speak.

True saints and masters know much more about God, God's creatures and God's creation, than most scientists do, but in contrast to many shallow scientists, true saints and masters usually do not brag about their profound divine insights.

God's secrets are usually very well hidden and guarded for many very good reasons and if scientists do not finally learn to become truly loving, wise and humble, then they will most likely have to wait for a very long time, before at least some of these secrets will finally be discovered.

Besides that, scientists very often persistently cling to their own very limited "scientific" belief systems, but scientists often react very allergic, when someone very calmly points out these obvious facts to them.

Science unfortunately still limits itself massively in many ways due to its numerous and very persistent prejudices, biased opinions and preconceived views et cetera and such a very small-minded approach is of course neither truly scientific, nor wise, nor intelligent, nor effective.

Future generations will most likely be very perplexed, when they will discover, how incredibly small-minded, limited, arrogant and self-righteous our current "advanced science" was.

I've seen many of your posts. You possess barely a third of my intelligence. Do us all a favor and use condoms extensively. You aren't bright enough to weigh in here. You didn't even give me a retort. You told me to look at some yahoo's hocus pocus account. I've known religious people who've died and been resuscitated (that means "revived", genius). Guess what they saw? Nothing. If there were supernatural things in the world, science would have found them. It's just a process for weighing evidence, after all. Since there's no evidence, there are "brave" people like me willing to call your bull shit.
