Haha nice. Maybe I put that wrong. Is section 8 a mental health thing or housing assistance?

People that live on the dole are losers. You'll never convince them of that though.

The politicians have them convinced they're victims so they glob on to that fig lear and take it to the bank - or, the social welfare office - and sign up for all the free shit that they've been told is "rightfully" theirs.

Re: Anybody here on welfare, food stamps, section 8?
The dole goes back to the depression era.
It was that era's welfare (as in doling out money).
Socialism started in the early twentieth century as
the "progressives" i.e. atheistic communists took over
government.
Prior to that CHARITIES took care of the needy.
Of course the communists didn't like that as almost all
charities had a Christian foundation.

Now that America is a socialist nation, the only cure
is to collapse the system.
Everyone who is able must get on welfare, section 8,
food stamps, mecicaid, wic etc. EVERYTHING!

The welfare system will collapse the economy, and we
can have our inevitable revolution, and hopefully
restore our Constitutional Republic, and banish
socialism forever from America.

Dole is welfare, handouts, free shit that's given to you for your votes socialism and continued devotion to the social welfare system. Free food, free 0beymephones, free housing, free money, free healthcare, free day care, free contraception... It's all free, free, free!

Well, it isn't REALLY free. You have to agree to give up all the respect you might have had at one point for yourself. You have to give up any sense of honor. You have to give up any thought of providing for yourself and your family and having a prosperous future. All that is what it costs you. No new cars, no private schools for your kids, no boat or lake house for summer vacations. Nope, just a life of whining, bitching, pain and continued service to the socialists in office.

You know there is such a thing as the working poor right? I am over the moon that your life is so nice. Yes, there are lots of scammers but there are also people who are in need.

Also, in NY any able bodied person on the "dole" must work. Not everyone on food stamps is living a glorious life, be grateful for what you have and pray that you never have a need to ask for help.

It's none of your business who's on food stamps or why. Do you really think people want to post their personal information on here and then get slammed for having a turn of bad luck or whatever?

I do agree that more should be done to find and persecute the abusers but I am not sure how that can be accomplished.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5674195

If you quit your job and go to Social Services looking for a pay day you're out of luck. Their policy is they will not give you any help until 6 months has passed since you quit your job unless you had a good reason, health, etc.

They are onto the fact that people quit jobs to get assistance.

One person has already posted that they had a stroke. There are many people through no fault of their own find themselves in the position to need help.

The whole program is supposed to be a temporary helping hand until someone can get back on their feet. It's not meant to be a way of life that's handed down from generation to generation.

There have been some changes made to assure that those that really need the help get it but of course that's not working totally.

There is a 36 month life time cap for receiving temporary emergency assistance in NY. After that time is up no more, ever.

So wise one what would you have suggested since we we're laid off in the same week? Oh let me guess...get a job. Sorry that's when there was hardly any jobs. Having food stamps was better than eating out of the dumpster. Oh but i'm sure you'll whine. Your spending MY MONEY. Guess what when I had a job I was paying my taxes.

Yes I know there are people who live off the system. That pisses me off. Yet not everyone does this. My Grandma is 80 and she has to use food stamps. I highly doubt anyone would give her a job.

So you believe that nothing bad will ever happen to you where one day you might need assistance to feed your children? When you say you don't understand the "logic" of someone being poor enough or desperate enough to need help that is kind of slamming people that are on FS.

There shouldn't be a need for people to post anonymously as being on the dole has such a stigma attached. I don't disagree with a lot of posts that are anti social service programs.

There but for the grace of God go I.

Also, I have every right to post my opinion on a public forum. I guess you were expecting everyone to agree with you.

First off, you don't have to post on here if you don't like my questions. I don't believe I am "slamming" anyone. Also there is a way to post anonymously on here ya know. I'm not asking for there name and address. And yes I know what working poor is...in fact I think all off middle and lower class america knows what working poor is lady, don't take your self inflections out on me for asking a question.

20% of the population ends up on Disability.

That's a whole other ball of wax! So many more applicants for disability over the past 7 years or so. Many people that got laid off due to economy are trying to get on.
