New rare Bible Translation comming in 2014!
I'm happy someone has actually produced a new translation based on the Byzantine Text tradition rather than the regurgitated Westcott and Hort Nestle Aland Critical Text. I wish they used the Majority Text instead of the TR. This new MEV translation seems to be identical to the NKJV (my fave translation). Wonder if this is just going to be another KJV revision that everyone forgets about. The NKJV is the only KJV revision that stuck around and had a real impact in the market, can't see this supplanting it. Though it does seem to have a little more backing behind it than other KJV revision attempts except for the NKJV. Will probably get a copy of this just for the sake of it being a rare modern translation that isn't CT and it being literal rather than dynamic equivalence.

I'm quite excited!

I must admit I have not had a chance to read through any other translation much. I guess I'll start doing this.

That's great, but after years of study I have yet to see convincing arguments to support the idea that the "competing" text families have any serious bearing on the content of the NT. Many ridiculous claims are made about what was allegedly added or left out, but none of it impacts the central teachings of the faith.

I think the KJV is the best. we will have to see what this new translation is like. whatever might have been lost in the translation to get the KJV it makes up for in depth and power of speech, and I must admit that those are important despite whatever abridgement there may be of the literal Word of God.

modern speech is so lacking in color, meaning, depth, power and clarity. if you want to read anything that means anything, it must be in classic prose. anything else is less and modern language is cheap as a polyester suit.

I like to go directly to the Greek. The KJV was fine for its time, but there has been a lot of new discovery concerning the meanings of words, just as the Preface of the KJV expected there to be eventually. The lexicons still have some catching up to do, but I think the Liddel/Scott is the best.

FWIW, I recently finished going through the entire NT and put up the results in case it might be of use to people: [link to bible.fether.net]

No copies of the original Hebrew survived past the last century BC. The LXX was what Jesus and the apostles quoted. The Masoretic is the Hebrew text used by most translations now, but it post-dates the time of Christ by several hundred years.

And this is why why you are as ignorant as all hell. In fact, after saying something with a massive dose of super concentrated fail like you just have; I'm not even sure if you can really even read.

If you can...you have extremely powerful reading comprehension issues.

I suppose I need to spell this out: What I meant was that the DIFFERENCES between the ms. are insignificant. I hope you understand now.

Ephesians chapter 2

King James Version

1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;

12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:

22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
 Quoting: KJV

Modern English Version

[link to modernenglishversion.com]

1 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins,

2 In which you formerly walked according to the age of this world and according to the prince of
the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,

3 Among them we all also once lived in the lusts of our flesh, doing the desires of the flesh and of
the mind, and we were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.

4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,

5 Even when we were dead in sins, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been
saved),

6 And He raised us up and seated us together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

7 So that in the coming ages He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward
us in Christ Jesus.

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not of yourselves. It is the gift of God,

9 Not of works, so that no one should boast.

10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared
beforehand, so that we should walk in them.
One in Christ

11 Therefore remember that formerly you, the Gentiles in the flesh, who are called the
“uncircumcision” by the so-called “circumcision” in the flesh by human hands,

12 Were at that time apart from Christ, alienated from the citizenship of Israel and strangers to the
covenants of promise, without hope and without God in the world.

13 But now in Christ Jesus you who were formerly far away have been brought near by the blood of
Christ.

14 For He is our peace, who has made both groups one and has broken down the barrier of the
dividing wall,

15 By abolishing in His flesh the enmity, that is the law of the commandments contained in
ordinances, that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, thus making peace,

16 And that He might reconcile both to God into one body through the cross, thereby slaying the
enmity.

17 And He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near.

18 For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.

19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but are fellow-citizens with the
saints and members of the household of God,

20 Having been built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being
the chief cornerstone,

21 In whom the entire building, tightly framed together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord,

22 In whom you also are being built together into a dwelling place of God through the Spirit.

No.

Read the whole context of the teaching, and you will see that whether it's eye or hand or mouth, what matters is what is in the heart. People who take it out of context do silly things like literally cut of a hand if it causes them to sin (hands can't sin, only hearts/minds), or shoe-horn "third" into places it doesn't belong.

You have three eye dumbo, in your case you see with only two.

a) A Single Eye—Full of Light

There are some Scriptures which helped me along that line. Matthew 6 about the body being full of light helped me very much. This struck me quite a short time ago, about a year ago, I think. It illustrates what I am talking about. Matt. 6:22-23 says, “The light of the body is the eye; if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.” Well, when your eye is single you see Jesus, of course. That’s the only point of having an eye, a spiritual eye, isn’t it—to see Jesus? And if my eye is single, it means I have a clear simple sight of Him and therefore I am full of light. Because He is there, therefore His Presence, His Peace, His Power, His Fullness, His Adequacy and everything is there.

Pretty much this, AC. You are adding words to what was written (A major sin. according to God). There was not a single mention of THIRD eye. You cannot just add that because you think it could mean it. That makes you no better than the people who influenced all the other innaccurate translations out there.

Re: New rare Bible Translation comming in 2014!

The fact that you keep insulting me tells me everything I'd need to know about what a "third eye" does to people.
Have I now become your enemy by telling you the truth? (Gal. 4:16)
