Sure...no one wants to see a bunch of innocent folks suffer, but it's not our fight. Neither side gives a crap about the US. As a matter of fact, I'm sure just about everyone on each side hates the West.

Unless you have family there, why do give a crap?

Do you believe that their problems are worth a single American life?

Would you be willing to go over and help whichever side you are on?

Would you be okay with your son or daughter being sent to syria to fight?

Knowing how corrupt everthing is, especially non-profits, would you send money to syria to help the syrian people?

Would you have the US send money to the rebels in syria? Really, even though we're trillions in debt, have record numbers on unemployment and welfare? The white house is making threats to cut disabled veteran's benefits, but you would be okay with sending even more money that we don't have to a place where it will do little or no good, and the people there all hate us anyway?

Can you name a time or place when foreign intervention has really done any good, or done anything besides prolonging the inevitable outcome?

Again, I ask, why the hell should we stick our noses into their mess? What is there to gain? What is it worth? If you think we should intervene, would you be willing to go yourself, or send a loved one?

Bump again.

Really interested in hearing some opinions on the subject. There are countless threads reporting the "atrocities", and just as many bitching about us not "doing enough" for the folks in syria. I'm just very interested in what I'm missing here. Why should be get involved.

Now notice, I didn't ask why we should care. I understand why someone would care. There is crap going on all over the world, and plenty going on here in our country, that is wrong...and it's only human to care about the well being of others. But, it just seems like everyone is bound and determined that we pick a side in syria and go "all in" to "do something".

I don't get it....

Stay out of it! period. There is no reason to get involved in the war. I am okay with peace keepers politically to prevent death there only!

You shouldn't. But will because that's just what the US does, self appointed world police.

The same could be said for numerous 'interventions' in the past but they gotta justify the massive military industrial complex somehow.

War is the biggest money making business ("War is a racket"- USMC General Smedley Butler) on the planet. Billions to be made in weapons, security, theft of resources etc... Of course the average American or Syrian civilian won't see a penny of it. Peace sells, but who's buying?

Because we are Amurka, the world's policeman. The top dawg Nosy-Parker. We can't get enough of minding our own citizen's business so we have to mind everyone's.

The only way for a nation to avoid this is to have nukes, then Amurka leaves them alone.

What do you mean by 'get involved'? There would be peace in Syria if the West hadn't sent radical muslim mercenaries there.
