I REMEMBER SEEING SOME GUY DROP AN ANCHOR WITH 800 FT OF LINE AND STILL DIDNT TOUCH BOTTOM

those black marks at the bottoms of the remaining trees. Are they a natural part of trees like that, or are they indicating a tidal range there?

I think there was a prior land drop that wasn't caught on camera. If you notice, when the land and trees fall in the sinkhole water displacement almost brings the water levels to the top of the black markings on the remaining trees.

yeah, noticed that, but then it returned to the same level, with those black marks the same size as before the slip

probably a mini tsunami made the water raise for a bit.

Appears the mass of land the tress are embedded in broke away and just dropped straight down.If the tress were falling away they would likely have fell sideways.The trees hardly moved at all and stayed upright as they sank.Very odd really.
