Gunmen launched a roadside ambush on 14 British private school pupils on an aid trip in Africa, firing AK47 rounds above their heads and threatening them with machetes. 'We will kill you!' the men shouted at the youngsters before rifling their bags and making off with money, cameras and mobile phones during the hold-up in the Tabora region of Tanzania. During the 90-minute ordeal group leader Angela Daly was assaulted, while her husband George, 64, was kicked in the head.

Their local guide was stabbed in the back before the robbers fled.
