Why is the school district asking military service questions of the parents? They're about to call up all non-deployed active service members and want to know which kids will be affected. That's what it looks like to me. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 7929103 Doubtful. It would have been sent in paper form, hidden within 30 other questions. I'm betting its a survey to figure out how much of a grant they're getting from the Feds. Everyone is worth knowing. Everything is worth learning. You're never too good. Once Obama wipes out our active duty members still in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and now Syria he will start the draft once again. He will come for our sons and daughters and send them into a foreign land to fight to instill democracy. Or to install an MB operative like himself. Al Takyya - stealth jihadist. |

There are much better ways to compile information / demographics for a possible draft than through a school email. Just thought it was a little strange to receive an email like this. |

So few people questions things these days, they can afford to be lazy and spare printing costs down to bare minimum. In effect, the lack of convolution could be masked simplicity due the pervasive complicity of the day. Still wouldn't hurt to call the school and asked as suggested. No harm or shame in asking what it's about and doing so will give a chance to gauge if it seems you are being interacted with through a protocol of answers for anyone who would question. |

It's crazy how many times I see on here "hey someone call this place" instead of just doing it themselves. Things won't change by relying on the same 4 people to hold your hands though life. |

Why is the school district asking military service questions of the parents? During WW2, there was a boarding school a couple of miles from where I live near the convent for children who had both parents in the military. (Remember, women were nurses then.) Our government is planning something. It's probably all about a grant. But I would call the school and ask how they are going to give the info to the Feds. If it's just a number, as in 23% of our children have parents in the military. Then I wouldn't be worried. If however the school intends to send the names of every military member, with the school info from each child, then I would be worried. |

Why is the school district asking military service questions of the parents? At the end of last year my daughters teacher gave me one of these sheets as well. I was confused about it. In my daughters 5 years of public school (different areas) we have never been asked this. I never filled it out and now I'm homeschooling her so I don't know what would've come of it. All I know is my initial reaction was an uncomfortable one. |

Why is the school district asking military service questions of the parents? It makes no sense that the military would be using this information as they already have it on the enlisted person'records (health insurance coverage comes to mind first). Chances are this is some type of demographics study by the state since such info is considered private and not subject to open records inquiry from the federal government. If I was asked to provide such if I or spouse were enlisted, I would decline since its none of the state's business esp when no explanation is offered. As far as those suggesting the draft, why would the military draft those who are already enlisted, be it active, reserve or other manners. Unless There is no reason to provide it, the state is creating a database for unknown reasons asking for personal information that they can't retrieve from the federal government...... Not good. |

Nothing wrong there but in this situation, its the state government requesting the data by means of using the school districts to collect it, not the local school district doing it for honorable reasons. |
