I'm pretty sure that if you don't have a gun you can't shoot people. Of course you're welcome to tell me I'm wrong, but read that sentence again. No gun, then what do you use instead? Can't be a gun if you don't have one can it? |

No gun, then what do you use instead? Can't be a gun if you don't have one can it? Um, bare hands, knives, hammer, baseball bat? All of these account for more homicdes than guns. You should know this from the UK's own violent crime stats. |

Secondly, and I would be shocked if it hasn't been mentioned already, but Chicago has got to be the most glaring incrimination of "gun free zones" in America. But why stop at Chicago? How about D.C., or NYC, or Baltimore and on and on and on. |

Here’s a summary of the study’s findings: The Harvard study attempts to answer the question of whether or not banning firearms would reduce murders and suicides. Researchers looked at crime data from several European countries and found that countries with HIGHER gun ownership often had LOWER murder rates. Russia, for example, enforces very strict gun control on its people, but its murder rate remains quite high. In fact, the murder rate in Russia is four times higher than in the “gun-ridden” United States, cites the study. ”Homicide results suggest that where guns are scarce other weapons are substituted in killings.” In other words, the elimination of guns does not eliminate murder, and in the case of gun-controlled Russia, murder rates are quite high. The study revealed several European countries with significant gun ownership, like Norway, Finland, Germany and France – had remarkably low murder rates. Contrast that with Luxembourg, “where handguns are totally banned and ownership of any kind of gun is minimal, had a murder rate nine times higher than Germany in 2002. The study found no evidence to suggest that the availability of guns contributes to higher murder rates anywhere in the world. ”Of course, it may be speculated that murder rates around the world would be higher if guns were more available. But there is simply no evidence to support this.” And, as the study points out, where guns are banned, murderers still find weapons with which to do their dirty work. The difference is that the victims potential means of self-defense. With guns available, one would assume their deterrent effect if not outright effectiveness in the self-defense realm would predictably knock the murder rate down. Criminals and murderers are less likely to attack if the possibility the potential victim is armed exists. Common sense 101. [link to hotair.com] Glad you posted this. The hand wringers and totalitarians don't have truth on their side. The central fact is gubmint wants to remove the means of self defense. The question is why? The answer is, because gubmint means to kill everyone who disagrees with its totalitarian program and it wants to make it easy and safe to do so. What other reason could there be? In light of history and truth? Last Edited by s. d. butler on 08/29/2013 11:56 AM |

No gun, then what do you use instead? Can't be a gun if you don't have one can it? Hmmm. Flawed logic, I see. It isn't as if death by gunshot is the only way people can be killed. In China, for example, they usually use rat poison for their mass murders, which are rather frequent, as a matter of fact. Knives and scissors are favorite weapons there too, though they use all kinds of things to kill people, bats, hammers, iron bars... After all, murder and mayhem were common long before firearms were invented. We are talking about murder, aren't we, not just death by gunshot?
